Unit3 How do you get to school? Section B 2a-2c I. Analysis of the Teaching Material This unit is about transportation, it talks about how to get to places. Besides the new words and phrases, Students should grasp how , how long and how far questions. They must know how to ask and answer these questions. Meanwhile, in period4, the passage tells us about childrens school life in some poor villages, which will encourage our students to treasure study more.1. Knowledge objectsVocabularies: cross,river,village,between,bridge,boat,ropeway, year,afraid,like,villager,leave,dream,truePhrases: between.and, come trueSentences: For many students, it is easy to get to school. There is no bridge and the river runs too quickly for boats. So these students go on a rope way to cross the river to school. One 11-year-old boy, Liang liang, crosses the river every day. I love to play with my classmates. It is their dream to have a bridge.2. Ability objects(1). To develop the studentsabilities of reading,writing,listening and speaking.(2). To train the students ability of retelling stories.3. Moral objects(1) Make students be interested in study through different teaching methods.(2) to treasure what they have and try to help others.Key points: l Be able to use words, phrases and sentences. l Know about the transportation in poor villages and their difficult school life.Difficult points: Be able to retell the story and write the composition.VI.Teaching proceduresStep1 Free talku Show a flash over the mountains u Get a conclusion of phrases about transportation, (discuss in groups and write them down ) ( Purpose of my designing: This step is to help students memorize the words and phrases again. And consolidate the target language by working in groups).Step 2 Reading1. Pre-reading (5minutes)Show a vedio to the students.a. Warming-up Ask and answer.How do the children get to school in the vedio?What do you think of the ropeway? Safe or dangerous?Why do you think these children use the ropeway?b.Presentation Show some pictures to lead in new words: cross, river, bridge, afraid, like, leave, ropeway, village, villagers, between. (Purpose: guide them to learn some new words from the vedio and the pictures, preparing for the next fast reading.)2. While-reading Skimming (1minute) Read the passage quickly, answer the questions 1.Whats the article about? A. About how to get to school. B. About how to have a dream. 2.How do the students go to school? 3.How does Liang liang go to school every day? (Purpose of my designing: fast reading can improve students reading speed, ask them to get the general ideas in limited time. Pictures can help them a lot.)
