新标准英语 八年级上册Module 5 Western musicUnit 1 You like western classical music, dont you?Part One Analysis of the teaching(One) Analysis of the teaching material The material of this teaching plan is from the New Standard English for the first term in Grade Eight. The topic of this unit is about music. It aims to talk about music and what the students like and dislike and to learn tag questions. Unit 1 presents many kinds of music, many adjectives to describe music and tag questions. It also show us how to talk about music and give comments on music. (Two) Analysis of the students The students are intersted in music, but they know little about music, especially western music. As we know, though music can be divided into many genres in many different ways, these classifications are not absolute, and closely related styles often overlap. It is impossible to make students know which piece of music belongs to which genre. The students can focus on learning the words about music and talking about music.(Three) Analysis of the teaching circumstance Because this unit focus on learning the words about music and talking about music, it doesnt need to search information from Internet. It can be taught in a multimedia classroom.Part Two Teaching aims and demands(One) Language goals1. Words & phrases pop, techno, beautiful, fun, lively, sad, serious, slow, traditional, sure, Austrian, composer, fan, on earth, noise2. Key sentences Whos it by?Youve heard of him, havent you?He was German, wasnt he?You like western classical music, dont you?But Sally is a classical musician, so she doesnt like pop music, does she?No, she doesnt.What on earth is that?(Two) Ability goals The students can listen to different types of music and learn tag questions.(Three) Emotion & attitude goalsThe students can know that music makes life better.Part Three Teaching key and difficul points Its difficult to learn the 21 new words and learn to talk about different types music.Part Four Teaching ProceduresActivity 1 Warming up1. Greetings.2. Present the video of The Sound of Music. Enjoy an English song named Do Re Mi.3. Tell the students well have a singing competition. Then introduce the rules of the competition. ( First Ill divide the Ss into two groups. Then Ill choose two representatives in each group. The representatives will sing songs or play music for us. All of the students are judges. At last lets see which group is the winner.)Design intention: The purpose of this step is to use the song to make my students interested in the topic of this unit, and to use the song to lead in new class. Activity 2 Pre-listening1.Ask the question: What kinds of music do you know?Design intention: The purpose of this step is to make students familiar with the topic. It is also to use the knowledge the students have known to learn the new.2. Listen and list the kinds of music in the tape. Then type them.3. Listen again and match the descriptive words with the music.4 The first period of the singing competition.5. Let the students to think about the question: What do you think of the songs? Then the students describe the songs.Design intention: The purpose of these four steps is to make the students catch the new words. And help the students to prepare words and ideas for the next activity.Activity 3 While-listening1. Introduce the information of the two pieces of music- Fate Symphony and The Blue Danube.Design intention: The purpose of this step is to help the students to prepare more words and ideas for the next activity.2.Watch the video and Check the people and the types of music they like.3. Introdue the tag questions and teach the students to read and understand the tag questions.Design intention: The purpose of these steps is to help the students to improve the listening ability and understand the new knowledge.Activity 4 Post-listening1. The second period of the singing competition.2. Discuss the questions in groups of four: Which song do you like best? Why?3. Every group gives us a roport to give comments on music or songs they just heard.4. Decide which group is the winner.Design intention: The purpose of these steps is to help the students use the new knowledge. At the same time let the Ss have a chance to develop their ability of communication, and also their ability of co-operation will be well trained.Activity 5 Homework1. Make a survey: What music do your family like? 2. Write down a short passage about the survey.Design intention: I think homework is so important that the students should speak English as much as they can in class or after class. It is necessary for the students to do some extensive exercises after
