It talks about the heros travelling experiences to future by his time machine.Ask the students two more questions:1. Do you like reading science fiction stories or films?2. Why are so many people interested in them?Sample answer: Because they allow people to use their imagination to think about life in the future.Step 2 Picture talkAsk the students two questions:1. Do you want to know what our life will be like in the future?2. First, lets talk about the four pictures in our books.Picture 1What is the robot doing in this picture? To be really useful, it must have intelligence. Just as humans have sense organs such as eyes and ears, robots need sensors. A robot might also need a voice to speak to its owner. Many robots need some type of hand to do their jobs. Why do we need robots?Why do we need robots? First, they are hardworking. They can do dangerous work or work that is very boring or tiring for humans. They can work around the clock without complaining and without needing rest or food. And robots can go to places that humans can not, such as the surface of Mars and deep under the ocean. Ask the students two more questions:Do you think you will have a robot at home in the future? If you had a robot at home, what would you like it to do for you? Picture 2Ask the students to discuss three questions.1. Where are the passengers going?2. If you had a chance, would you like to fly to the Moon or another planet? What will you do when you arrive there?3. Do you think the moon could be a tourist destination in the future? Why?Sample answers:1. To the Moon, Jupiter or Mars2. Yes. I want to see if there some lives there, and bring some strange things to my families and friends.3. Yes. With the development of science and technology, human beings could travel wherever they want in the future. Picture 3Ask the students the following questions: What are the people in this picture doing? Having a birthday party. How old is the man? 200 years old. Do you think the man in the picture looks that old? Do you think people can live that long in the future? Why or why not? With the development of genetic research, scientists can find out the secret of living longer. Picture 4Ask the students to discuss the following four questions:1. Can you tell where these “people” are working? 2. Can you tell who these “people” are and what they are doing?3. What problems are the aliens and the people probably talking about?4. What is the relationship between them?Sample answers:1. In the office on Mars or other planets.2. They are humans and aliens. They are having a meeting.3. Peace problems between other planets and the Earth.4.
