Get the Ss to form good learning habits.Time Arrangements(2 periods)、Teaching procedures1. Warming up (To activate students interests on learning by supplying conversation topics related to the topic of the text)E.g, When you passed the entrance examination and got your admission notice that you are admitted to Sichuan Normal University, you have been busy with your packaging and are ready to register on set time. As I know , almost all of you are companied to come here by your family members . How about you?2. Text and Questions for Discussion(Make students have a general understanding by setting up questions in each paragraph, discussing in groups and filling up a diagram)3. The Analysis of the structure of the Textl Genre analysis叙述文(Narration),描述文(Description), 说明文(Exposition),议论文(argumentation) l Division of the essay and main meaning of the each partl Relations between each paragraph(encouraged to find out the signal words connecting each parts)l Analysis of cohesive conjunctions of the essay (ask students fin out the bridge words or logic words in each paragraph)l Conclusion of the content (ask students to look at the diagram again, and ask some of students to retell the text and others listen to them , at the same time to make the omitted parts)4. Study of the Words and PhrasesFirstly, teacher gives an explanation of the usages of the word, and ask students to pick out the target word and make up a sentence.For example, T: Which word means “change slightly in order to suit for particular purpose or situation” in the passage?S1: adjust.T: I dont think Marys watch keeps good time. Its slow. Mary, please make you watch walk right by the radio. Give a sentence using the word “adjust”. Mary: Ok, I will adjust my watch (by the radio/by your watch).Secondly , New words and old words(When I say a word or an expression youve learnt before, respond with the new one in this text)Thirdly, English and Chinese Phrases(When I say a phrase or an expression in Chinese, try to find an English equivalent in the text.)This can strengthen the interaction between teacher and students so as to form a dynamic teaching environment.5. After learning of the text, teacher can pick out some important exercises to explain.6
