文档简介

Good morning ladies and gentlemen! Its my honor to stand on the stage for this competation. Furthermore I am so glad that i could take the opportunity to share my idea with all of you. The topic of my speech is What We Cannot Afford to Lose. Just as a saying goes there are a thousand Hamlets in a thousand peoples eyes. If you send out a thousand questionnaires about what we cannot afford to lose, youll get a long train of answers. A patient who stays in bed for a long time might sign it that heath is the only thing that he cannot afford to lose. A person who is in prison might sign up the answer of freedom. A person who suffers from war might sign up the answer with peace. Thousands of answers may draw us attention, which is the hope that cannot be lost for all the human being.Traced back to 1952, a period based on a real story. There was a famous female athlete whose name is Florence Chadwick. she had already swam across the English Channel, which challenged to swim to the beach of California from Kai Delin of the island, making a new record. The weather was so awful that she could see nothing but a solid wall of fog. Though had she run out of her strength after 16 hours swimming, the island was still invisible, veiled behind the fog. At that time, She spoke to herself i cant finish the gap for the long distance between the land and myself. Florence told the stuff to pull her out .however, The stuff encouraged her that only one mile was left and if she held herself to the end, she would succeed and be the new record holder. Unfortunetely, the thick fog covered her hope and she ended the meaningful challenge. Few minutes later, she saw the brown shoreline appeared and then heard the cheer on the land. Its self-evident that the stuff didnt cheat her but its the barrier in her mind that let her give up. The story still continued. Two months later, she tried again and made it. The same weather, the same wave, even the same fog. Of course she was still the Florence Chadwick. But this time, Hope made her stronger In the daily life, all of us may come into the same situation as Florence soon or later. We delay, we shrink, we give up just because what we can touch is not the chance to success but the difficulties. We are feared of the meaningless insistence which makes us no distinction with the crowded world around us. If anyone can make you see the hope of winning, you will march on.And i believe this one could only be yourselves. And this is what I really want to deliver: hope is what we cannot afford to lose. We are young both in age and in spirit, we will see and experience different kinds of lives and things, some are easy but some are tough. Our destiny is not written for us but written by us. Stop whisper and shout out your vision of future. We can reach our destiny as long as we could solve the hinder standing in our way. The hope will be the light to guide us forward to the places where we are dreaming about. Only facing the darkest night bravely and with unfaltering hope of success can we build our individually ideal vision brick by brick, block by block. In this case, we are the heroes and soliders to fight against the hinder, to reach the final.hope cannot guarantee everything, and I dont want to overemphasis the importance of active consciousness or ignore the essential of actual proceeding. What i want to deliver is that hope is the bedrock of success. In a larger sense, hope is not blind optimistic its not ignoring roadblocks that stand in the path which lead to the termination, its not sitting on the sidelines or shrinking from a conquer or outstrip our ability. Hope is what we insist with heart and soul, which needs our tears, blood and determination, making us despite all the
