Love animals ,love themselves and protect our common home -the earth.Teaching Points:Understand and use the new words and phrases.Master two reading skills and use them to finish the mind-map.Teaching difficuties:Using the reading skills to finish the mind-map and retell the article according to the mind-map.Teaching procedures:Step1 Warm- up:Enjoy a video about the teachers self-introduction,and then fill in the chart .After watching the video ,answer the questions like: Whats my English name? How old is Becky? Whats Beckys hobby? Whats Beckys favourite animal? Do you like me?Step 2 Pre-reading:1、 Talk about the pandas between teacher and students.Ask some questions like :Where is pandas hometown?The panda Abao is in the movie _.The pandas we gave to Taiwan in 2008 were called and_.Panda Panpan is as a mascot in _.2、 Enjoy some pictures to guess the meaning of the new words and phrases. Then check it.Show some pictures about pandas life in Chengdu Research Base ,let the students look at the picture and read the sentences,Then guess the meaning of the new words and phrases.Step 3 While reading:1、 Listen to a piece of the text .Then try to predict what the article mainly talk about. Give students some choices and let them to predict. Then show them the main line of this article.2、 Skim the text and try to match the main ideas with the paragraphs.Para 1 Why pandas are endangered?Para 2 Know about pandas and panda keeper.Para 3 Para 4 How to protect pandas? 3、 Scanning the text and fill in the mind-map.3) After they enjoy the video , try to find out What 2000 mean in the text.Then ask them to use reading skills of “scanning” to fill in the mind map.Then check the answers together.文思维导图:Step 4 Post-reading:Suppose you are a little guide in Chengdu Research Base ,try to introduce the pandas to us according to the mind-map.There are three parts in the mind map. Students can choose any part of them or choose all the parts. Then they will give an introduction of the pandas in front of the class.Step5 ConsolidationTry to write a short passage about the pandas. You can write it by yourself or write it with your partner.Students will write the passages by themselves or with their partners.
