Analysis of the Teaching Material本单元是九年制义务课程标准实验教科书新目标英语七年级下册中第七单元,本单元的核心话题是谈论人的外表形象(image),因此talking about sbs image是教学重点。通过对本单元的学习,学生能掌握本单元出现的表示人外观的词组及句型。单元知识结构1. Vocabulary:Nouns:hair, height,build,captain,team,bit,joke,person,heard,grasses,mustache,image,winner etcAdjective:short,curly,straight,high,thin, heavy,etc2Phrases:look like, good-looking,a little bit,etc3. Sentences:What does he/she look like? -He/She is tall What do you look like? -Im thin4. Grammar:What does he/she look like? -He/She is tall What do you look like? -Im thinII. Teaching Aims and Demands 1. Knowledge Aims 1) 识记描述人物外貌特征的词汇 short, long, curly, straight, blonde, brown, hair, bald, tall, height, thin, heavy, a medium build, glasses, beard, mustache 2) 学会使用询问、描述人物外貌特征的句型。 a. What do you look like? Im short I have curly hair b. What do they look like? Theyre medium height c. What does he/she look like? He/She is tall/medium height/short/thin/heavy/bald. He/She has a medium build/a beard/a mustache He/she has long/short/blonde/brown/black/straight/curly hair He/She wears glasses/a white T-shirt 2. Ability Aims 1) 学会询问他人外表。 2) 学会谈论,描述身高,体重,发型,面部特征及着装等外貌特征。根据描述画出人像。3. Feelings and Attitudes1) 通过描述身边同学、朋友、教师、家人的外表,增加彼此之间的感情,培养人际交往能力,同时感受到语言使用的趣味性。2) 教育学生不要以貌取人。3)培养学生的猜测,逻辑排序,概括与推理能力。III. Important Point of Teaching 1) What引导的询问外貌的特殊疑问句。 2) be, have, wear的一般现在时用法。 3) 描述外貌的形容词。IV. Difficult Point of Teaching 1) 注意比较动词“has”和“is”在对人物进行描述时的用法及汉语意思的差别。 2) 注意当句子主语是第三人称单数时,在句型What does he/she/your friend/Amy look like?中助动词用does,后面用动词原形look。V. Teaching Procedures (the first period) Step 1 Warm-up (1 min) Organize class by greeting each other.Step 2 Lead-in (A Short Video)(2 mins) Ask Ss to watch a short video, and pay attention on the image of the people.T: Do you like this short video? What do people look like in it?Ss: Yes, I do. They look funny.(Explain: like 喜欢; look like , look为动词,“看起来”,like为介词“像” )Step 3 Presentation(2 mins) Task 1. Words & Phrases & Sentences Study (hair) Show some stars pictures on the screen & Explain the new words.(1) T: Look at the picture. Do you know him/ her? Ss: Yes/ No. T: Is his/her hair long/short/curly/straight?Ss: Yes/ No. T: What color is it?Ss: Its black/ brown/ blond/ redT: So he/she has short straight brown/ long curly brown/ long straight black hair. (He is bald./ He has no hair./ He doesnt have hair.) (2) T: Now lets sum up how to describe hair. How to translate “郑爽有一头既长又直的漂亮黑发”.Ss: Zheng Shuang has beautiful long straight black hair.(Class are divided into two groups; Group1 ask, Group2 answer; then change)Task 2. Words & Phrases & Sentences Study (height)Show some stars pictures on the screen & Explain the new words. (1) T: Do you like 老夫子? Ss: Yes/ No. T: Is 老夫子/大番薯/ tall/short/of medium height?Ss: Yes/ No.T: Group1/2 ask “What does 大番薯/老夫子/ look like”; Group2/1 answer “He is short/ tall/ of medium height” (change)(2) Free talk (work in pairs) T: OK, now work in pairs, choice one person to talk about their height. Sample Conversation: -What does Yao Ming look like? -He is tall.Task 3. Words & Phrases & Sentences Study (build)Show some stars pictures on the screen & Explain the new words. (1) T: Class, who is he? Ss: He is 海涛/何炅. T: Is he thin or heavy?S1/2: He is thin/heavy. T: What does海涛/何炅 look like?Ss: He is thin/heavy. (2) T: Class, what do they look like? Ss: They are of medium build/ They have a medium build.(3) T: Just now, we have learnt some words for describing people. Do you remember them? (height/ build/ hair) (ask Ss to read the words together)Task 4. Listening Practice (Section A 1a2b) (1) Ask Ss to finish 1a, check the answers with whole class, then read the words together. T: Class, Ill give you 2 minutes to match the words with the people in the picture. You can use some letters more than once. (2) Ask Ss to listen to the tape, find Amys friend. Check the answer and read together. T: Listen to the tape and find Amys friend. then fill in the blanks in the picture above. (3) Ask 23 Ss “What do you look like?” Ask whole class “What does he/she look like?” S1/2/3: Im tall/short/of medium height. Im thin/heavy/of medium build. I havehair. Ss: He/She is tall/short/of medium height; He/She is thin/heavy/of medium build. He/She hashair. (offer help as deeded)(4) Ask Ss to listen to the tape and finish 2a &2b. Check the answers together. T: Look at 2a. Listen and circle “is” or “has”. T: Look at the chart in 2b. Listen again and fill in the chart.Task 5. Guessing games (guess who he is under the description李咏/成龙)Step 4 Language Study(2 mins)(1) How to ask peoples image.What do you/they look like? What does he/she/your friend look like?(2) How to describe peoples image. He/She is tall/short/of medium height/thin/heavy/of medium build He/She has long curly brown/hair.(3) How to use be/have to describe peoples image. be + adj. have/has + n.Step 5 Consolidation(2 mins)Exercises A.改错 1)She is long hair. 2) He has tall. 3) He has medium height. (ask Ss to find the hit-run driver/ the thief/ the unsung hero under the descriptions) Step 7 Summary & Moral Education(2 mins) T: Class, what we have learnt today?
