Teaching key points Consolidate to talk about past events by using simple past tense. Teaching difficult pointsHelp students to master the regular and irregular forms of the past tense. Teaching methodCommunicative approach; audio-lingual method; cooperative learning method. Teaching aids CAI; slide projector; recorder; multi-media; blackboard. Teaching proceduresStep1.warming-up and lead in1.Daily greetings2.Sing a song “how was your school trip” to warm up and briefly review the last period3.Show a photo of students trip to lead in the new class.Step2.presentation (new words&1a) Show different photos of activities on the computer to teach the new words.Eg: show a photo of famous painting “Mona Lisa” to teach new word “painting”. After teaching new words, finish the task in 1a and check answers.Step3.listening (1b-1c)1.After the presentation, it would be easy for students to listen. First, lead students to go through the instructions in 1b&1c, so that they can know what to do and how to do. Then play the tape for two times, let them finish the tasks in 1b&1c. At last, invite some students to check answers.2.Play the tape again, and let students fill in the blanks in learning paper. In this way, students can improve their listening ability and consolidate the past tense.Step4.pai-work(1d) Show the sample conversation on the computer. leave students two minutes to work in pairs and practice the conversation. Two minutes later, invite two groups to perform in the front.Step5. Group-workLeave students five minutes to work in groups and make a survey about your friends trip. (show the form and sample conversation on the PPT, or they can also look at their learning paper). Five minutes later, invite three groups to act out in the front, and the teacher should give comments.Step6. ConsolidationLet students look at their learning paper and try to finish the exercise in it. Then, let students share their answers.Step7.summary and moral educationLead students to summarize the language points together.
