Period 5(Section A 2a-2e) 课时安排1个课时教学目的:1. 通过文章的标题、插图和段落的首句学会“跳读”的技巧,提高学生的阅读能力,培养学生的语感。2. 让学生在了解美国历史上的两次重大历史事件后,培养学生崇尚自由民主、热爱和平的意识。教学要求:1. 要求学生必须掌握下列单词:passage, pupil, completely, shocked, silence, in silence, recently, take down, terrorist, date, tower, at first, truth2. 能正确使用以下常用表达:in silence, take down3. 能熟练掌握并使用下列重点句式:1) On this day, Dr. Martin Luther King was killed.2) We were eating dinner in the kitchen when we heard the news on the radio.3) We finished the rest of our dinner in silence. 4) Most Americans remember what they were doing when the World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists.5) Even the dateSeptember 11, 2001has meaning to most Americans.6) I was so scared that I could hardly think clearly after that.4. 巩固过去进行时态的用法。教学重点:提高阅读技能,学会运用过去进行时态谈论过去的事情或讲述过去的故事。教学难点:过去进行以及when 和while的正确运用。教学方法、手段:本课主要采用学生自主学习的方式,培养学生的阅读理解能力,使学生学会“跳读”的阅读技巧。讲课思路(如何组织课堂教学及重、难点的处理):本课的教学内容是人教版八年级英语下册第五单元的第四课时。本课主要采用自主学习的方式,培养学生的阅读理解能力,使学生学会阅读技巧。将听、说、读、写渗透到阅读教学中去,实现阅读课文的整体教学。通过看图画和文章标题,猜测文章是关于什么,激起学生阅读的兴趣,再让学生了解本单元的阅读策略,并在阅读中运用,最后通过对话的方式检验学生对文章的理解。让学生了解重大历史事件,并从中受到教育。教学过程:Step 1 .Before-readingLook at the pictures on Page 38.Do you know who the man is? What happened to the buildings?The man was Dr. Martin Luther King. He was a great leader of the black people in modern American history. He is a kind and helpful man. He did a lot of good things for the people of America. He was murdered when he was 39 years old. His famous speech was “I have a dream”.The second picture is 9.11 event. The American World Trade Center was destroyed by terrorists on September 11, 2001.Now have a look at the title of the passage. Can you guess what the passage is about? (Two important events in American history.)Step 2 Reading1. Skim reading.Ask the students to read the title and first sentence of each paragraph and try to find the answer to the following questions:(1) What was Robert Allen doing when Dr. King was killed?He was eating dinner when Dr. King was killed?(2) Which day will Kate Smith never forget?September 11,20012. Fast reading.Read the passage quickly, and try to answer the two questions; check the students answers.(1)What are the two events in the passage?Dr. Martin Luther King was killed.The World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists.(2)When did they happen?Dr. Martin Luther King was killed on April 4, 1968. The World Trade Center in New York was taken down by terrorists on September 11, 2001.3. New words.Show the Chinese meanings and phonetic symbols of the new words on the PPT. First let the students pronounce the new words aloud according to the phonetic symbols by themselves, then check their pronunciation, and offer help if necessary.4. Detail reading.Read the passage carefully and finish the tasks in 2c and 2d. Check the students answers.2c Read the passage again.
