Teaching aids:Computer, PPT, Blackboard, Colorful chalks,Teaching periods:Period 1: Vocabulary, 1aPeriod 2: 1b,1cPeriod 3: 2a, 2b,2cTeaching aims:1. Learn and master the words.2. Learn the target languages: How is the weather in Shanghai?Whats the weather like in Shanghai?-Its cloudy!What is Mary doing?-She is watching TV.3. Train the listening and speaking skills.Teaching procedure: Period 1:Step 1 Free talkLet students talk in pairs about todays weather in Chinese.Then teacher can bring out some new adjective words to describe the weather.Tells students today we will learn some words to describe the weather.Step 2 Section A 1aThis activity tests students vocabulary.1. Draw students attention to the pictures in 1a. Point to an object in it and ask How is the weather in Shanghai/.Beijing. Say, now look at the pictures and write down as many words as you can2. Ask two students to write the words on the blackboard.3. Check the students answers. Ask some students to speak out their words and spell them. Write down the words on the board.Step 3 Practise the vocabularies. Ask students to read and spell the words aloud. Period 2Step 1. Section A 1bThis activity gives students practice in understanding the target language in spoken conversation.Read the instruction to the students. Make sure the students understand how to do it. Say, now listen and write the city names in the boxes above.(1) Play the recording for the first time. Students only listen.(2) Play the recording a second time. Students number the conversations.(3) Check the answers together.Step 2. Learn the Language Points Listen to the conversation again, learn the following language points:1. How is the weather in Shanghai?=Whats the weather like in Shanghai?-Its cloudy!2. How is the weather in Beijing?=Whats the weather like in Beijing?-Its sunny!3. How is the weather in Toronto?=Whats the weather like in Toronto?-Its rainy!4. How is the weather in Moscow?=Whats the weather like in Moscow?-Its windy!5. How is the weather in Boston?=Whats the weather like in Boston?-Its snowy!Step 3. Practise the language points This activity provides guided oral practice using the target language. (1) Ask students to imagine they are in one of the places in 1a, make a conversation to talk about the weather with partners.(2) Have several pairs of students present their conversations to the class.Period3Step 1. Vocabulary and 2a (1) Learn the new words: cook-problem(2) Listen to the conversation about 2a, number the pictures.Step2. 2b(1) Listen to the conversation again, do the exercise in 2b.(2) Learn the language:What is Mary doing?-She is watching TV.Step3. 2c Talk about what are the people in 2a doing and how is the weather there.Conclusion(1) Learn the new words and phrases and funtions.(2) Master the target languages about describing the weather and what is people doing.(3) Grammar
