bodies or normal standards of Builder and Manufacturers whichever is greater All plans booklets name plates caution identification plates and whatever documents required for implementation of the Specification to be in English and both in English for in instructions and drawings essential for ship s machinery and equipment SOLAS II 1 26 10 002 GENERAL DESCRIPTION The vessel is to be designed and built as a single screw low speed diesel engine driven tanker for world wide service transporting product crude oil with special epoxy series coating in cargo tanks slop tanks and residual tank When the vessel to be fully loaded at scantling draft its deadweight capacity can reach to about 73 000 tons in bulk these oil flash point to be below 600C The maximum cargo density is to be 1 025 t m3 That means the hull structure to be designed based on the cargo specific gravity of 1 025 t m3 The vessel shall be suitable for carrying three 3 segregated cargo oil as follows Segregate 1 No 1 CFR Title 46 Part 32 53 34 05 35 01 1 35 30 and 35 35 18 US Port and Tanker Safety Act 1978 19 USCG 46 CFR 39 Vapour Control System 20 Suez proper tapering at ends structural members and suitable details to reduce stress concentrations Main hull structure to be designed and calculated in accordance with the requirements for oil tanker of Class Rules Cargo tanks are to be suitable for loading cargoes with the specific gravity up to 1 025 t m3 Scantlings are to be suitable for any level of filling including full and empty adjacent cargo tanks All cargo and ballast tanks shall be strengthened for partially loading condition where sloshing effects are considered The strength calculation incl B M S F to be submitted to the owner for reference Steel of hull construction to be generally of mild steel approved by the Classification Society but the high tensile steel with maximum yield point Re 3200 Kg sq m is foreseen for a maximum of 25 Steel without specified in Rules to be complying with the standard of ISO and CB Except for those otherwise mentioned herein the scantling of all structural members to be met the requirements of the Classification Society Clamps dogs and other suitable devices to the Builder s practice to be applied for execution of welding so as to place the material into adequate position Before delivery to be removed them and accurate grinding to be carried out Removal of unnecessary welded erection fitting such as digs eye plates and other device shall be carried out and accurate grinding to be carried out without damage to hull structure and coating If damaged will be repaired In order to ascertain the soundness of welding suitable number of X rays photograph and other applicable non destructive examination to be taken for the important members according to the Rules requirements and mutually agreed by the Builder and the Owner s representative A bulwark shall be fitted on the FWD instead of the handrail Manholes shall be arranged on both sides of wheelhouse because of the closed type bridge wings Two 2 storerooms shall be arranged on the upper deck in way of manifold Means of Access for inspection Continuous permanent access around the perimeter of each cargo tank longitudinal and transverse bulkheads is to be installed a minimum of 1 8 m to a maximum of 2 5 m below the deck Continuous athwartship permanent accesses to be arranged at every deck transverse on the clean side of the web plating at a minimum of 1 8 m to a maximum of 2 5 m below the deck Lightening holes 300 mm Dia shall be cut in the web plating each side of and adjacent to each tripping bracket minimum of three locations The athwartship accesses to be accessible from the continuous longitudinal permanent access ways port starboard If the underdeck web plating is equal or less than 1 5 m deep then rafting is acceptable as a temporary means of access if a permanent means of access from the deck is fitted at the fore and aft ends of each tank Temporary means of access such as rafting may be used to inspect the remaining vertical structure in the tanks Denotes the sides of the transverse web unobstructed by tripping brackets and substantial secondary stiffening members However means of access will comply with IMO PMA inside cargo and ballast tanks 102 WELDING AND CONSTRUCTION TEST Welding Welding procedure including edge preparation shall be executed in accordance with the Builder s standard practice which are in compliance with the requirements of the Class Welding electrodes shall be in compliance with the requirements of the Class Provisional access openings for convenience for access communications and or ventilation for the Builder s workers may be opened on the shell bulkheads and other necessary places and to be closed by welding when the work is completed But the drawing of access holes for convenience of working to be submitted to the owner and class for approval and complying with the CB GB standard Automatic and semi automatic welding shall be executed extensively as far as practicable All contamination such as water rust oil slag paint etc impairing the quality of the welding seams to be removed accurately and grinding if necessary from the steel surface before welding Corrective measures for miss cut holes lack of alignment of joints excessive gaps notches etc shall be applied according to the Builder s standard and according with Class requirements and solutions should be agreed with the Owner s representative Welding joints between castings and steel plates shall be heated prior to and or during welding in accordance with the requirement of the Class and as per metallurgic standard procedure Welding shall be carried out round the ends and cutouts for all structural members Double continuous welding shall be applied to the connections for main hull for wet spaces and for the structures exposed to the weather Intermittent welds may be applied to the connections in dry spaces in deckhouses according to the Class Rules and Builder s standard Construction Test The test schedule shall be determined by the Builder in view of the building schedule and submitted to the Owner s representative three days in advance for approval At any time during the construction of the vessel the Supervisors have the right to ask Seller and obtain under class surveyor witness to execute tests on steel and materials being used for construction test may also involve specimen collection and laboratory analysis Hydrostatic Leak test and structure strength test shall be carried out in accordance with the requirements of the Class Hydrostatic strength tests shall be carried out by the Builder for the cargo tanks boundary with test pattern subject to approval by the Class for all series vessels Weather tight and or watertight doors hatches etc shall be tested with water hose in accordance with the requirements of the Class Rudder shall be leak tested with air after completion of fabrication Non Destructive Test NDT shall be carried out in accordance with the Builder s practice under the approval of the Class and Owner Extent and locations of NDT shall be in accordance with the requirements of the Class and NDT plan shall be submitted to the Buyer for reference Any additional NDT exceeding the requirements of Class if required by the Owner and the work does not adversely affect the Builder s production schedules may be carried out on the Owner s account unless the test result turns out the Builder s fault Workmanship Structural details shall be in accordance with the Builder s standard and approved by the Class in general and submitted to Owner for reference and comments if any The standard of structural alignment shall be in compliance with Builder s standard and the requirements of the Class Slots air holes drain holes scallops and lightening holes on the non tight structural members shall be provided in accordance with the Builder s practice wherever the cutting of such openings or holes is necessary or practicable and not disturbing the structural strength of the members Lap joints to longitudinal stiffeners on the hull envelope and double bottom structure in way of cargo area shall be avoided Erection butt joints shall be clear from the bracket toes of web frames as far as practicable Air drain holes shall be located clear of bracket toes as far as practicable and lightening holes on the horizontal stringers shall be provided with protection bars to prevent personal falling through according to Builder s practice Frames beams and stiffeners shall be either of flat bar built up section and or rolled section The shell and deck plates shall be gradually tapered in thickness from mid ship portion to ends in accordance with the requirements of the Rules Plating under heavy concentrated loads shall be reinforced with thick insert plates and or stiffeners where necessary Large doubling plates shall be avoided Flat plate keel shall be provided throughout the vessel s length and connected to stem and stern frame Tug boat pushing area of ship s side at forward mid And aft shall be strengthened with stiffeners according to Builder s practice and to be marked with welding beads and painted Steel preparation mainly for cargo tank is to be submitted to the Owner for approval in any case not less than SIS SA 2 5 Builder has to foreseen a high level standard See Article 107 Corrosion Protection CSQS edition 1998 is part of this specification However builder will supply any updated edition including NCS The scantling construction and materials of hull within a range of midship part to be as shown on MIDSHIP SECTION plan In designing longitudinal strength to be checked to all loading conditions required by the Rules and other loading and ballasting conditions of trim and stability booklet It is to supply the calculation of main structure midship section construction plans incl profile decks bottom etc at the technical designed stage These drawings and calculations shall be submitted to owners for approval A pipe tunnel should be arranged in double bottom along the keel 1042 Bottom construction Double bottom to be located in cargo oil space and engine room region And it to be designed of avoidance of vibration occurred Access to double bottom in cargo area via wing tank water ballast tanks shall take in consideration easy accessibility in transverse and longitudinal directions The inner bottom plates to be designed and calculated in accordance with the Rules requirements The double bottom structure in cargo tank area to be supported by Longitudinal continuous girders and floors spaced 3 or 4 frames apart The height of double bottom to be 2 00 m One suction well to be arranged in front of after bulkhead of each cargo tank with consideration of uniform stripping under each ballast and stripping bellmouth shall be welded a double plate which area shall be minimum twice the bellmouth size and which thickness shall be the thickness of the shell plate The double bottom structure in engine room to be supported by full height plate floors fitted at every frame and side girders complying with the Rules and strengthened girders fitted under main engine foundations to be provided The height of double bottom is to be 2 00 m also The bottom plate in the area of forward to be strengthened in accordance with the Rules The longitudinals and floors to be arranged by the requirements of the Rules Plate floors to be fitted at every frame in engine room and the side girders to be fitted at the suitable position for corresponding to the longitudinal girders of the main engine seating A pipe tunnel should be arranged in double bottom along the keel 1043 Bottom Structure in Pump Room Single bottom structure with longitudinals floors and girders to be provided Pump s foundations may be integrated in the single bottom structure The face plates of girders to be generally increased in width at ends and to be in line with the double bottom in engine room and slop tanks to keep the structural continuity and proper structural transition and tapering to minimize the stress concentration 1044 Engine Room Structure Double bottom in engine room shall be built with transverse framing system and solid floors shall be fitted at every frame space Main engine foundations shall be integrated in the double bottom structure Foundation of main engine to be of welded structure and to have adequate strength and rigidity and to be carefully calculated according to recommendation of engine Makers and Class Rules and to submit to owner for comments Upper deck and side shell upper parts shall be longitudinally stiffened The other part of side shell shall be transverse or longitudinal framing system Proper transition shall be provided when necessary between longitudinal and transverse framing Shell framing in engine room to be adopted transverse framing type and the web frame to be fitted Pillars to be fitted in suitable frame and to be connected with the plate floors and transverses Main engine lubrication oil sump tanks under main engine shall be surrounded by cofferdam at sides and bottom Bilge wells shall be arranged at suitable place in the double bottom Engine casing arrangement to be as shown on the General Arrangement Plan The stiffeners to be arranged inside engine casing Access to be provided from outside Two 2 tiers platform deck to be arranged in engine room These decks shall extend from side to side with openings around main engine The openings in the platform decks shall be fitted with steel coaming 1045 Fore and Aft Ends The stem to be built with bulbous bow constructed by steel plates Two 2 self stowing watertight chain lockers with bilge suctions to be fitted directly below windlass P steering gear room is also to be provided with gratings and handrails to ensure working access and control as per Rules requirement Marking to show wear down deck stores steering gear room and lockers wherever necessary Galvanized steel shelves to be fitted in provision stores and painting room Wood material to be of soft wood Proper galvanized gratings within steel frames to be fitted to the provision stores shelves to protect against rats and cockroaches etc 306 LADDERS the generator shall have the capacity of 8 700 Nm3 h and shall consist of the following equipment One 1 main burner and one 1 pilot burner One 1 Scrubber One 1 Fuel oil pump The design of the inert gas plant such as construction materials corrosion protection etc shall be in accordance with the Manufacturer s standard and Rules requirements The inert gas system is to be used when the below mentioned operation are done Cargo oil unloading Petroleum gas purging after tank cleaning and before gas freeing During tank cleaning Fresh air supply during cargo tank inspections by sea man Gas freeing Ballast tanks if necessary COW operation The system to have the following design criteria Oxygen O2 1 4 Carbon dioxide CO2 Max 14 Sulphur dioxide SO2 Max 50 ppm Soot 1000C20 252530 Glass Wool 600C15202530 Sanitary
