Intensive study (精读课文).1) Vocabulary to Read: To read aloud the new words and expressions in step with the recording and pay special attention to the pronunciation of each one. 2) The Analysis of the Text: Ask Ss to read the text carefully and sum up the main idea of each paragraph. 3) Language Focus: a)To have a quick look at the words & expressions related to the topic and read aloud in step with the recording. b) To explains language points and makes Ss practice. .I have called this principle, by which each slight variation, if useful, is preserved, by the term Natural Selection. 我们将这一法则称为“自然选择”。按照这一法则,每一个有效的细微变化,都能得以保存。By which each slight variation, if useful, is preserved是非限制性定语从句 (与其先行项间只有较松散的关系,不是先行项不可缺少的部分, 只是对先行项的补充说明,这种分句在书写中常用逗号隔开)。which指代前面句子中的principle,在从句中作by的宾语,by which在从句中作方式状语。e.g. Her daughter,( whose name is Ann,) gave me a sweet smile.她的名叫安的女儿给了我一个甜甜的微笑。. become/be famous for 因而著名e.g. 鲁迅因他的作品而著名。 Lu Xun became famous for his works.China is famous for the china. 中国以瓷器而闻名。. serve as 作为而工作,供职e.g. 玛丽作为老师而工作 Mary serves as a teacher. on expedition (to ): 去考察 ;旅行 e.g. send a group of people on an expedition to the North Pole.派一队人去北极考察。. be similar to: 与相似的/近似的 = be almost the same withe.g. Gold is similar in color to brass. 金与黄铜的颜色相似。My opinions on the matter are similar to Kays. 我对这件事的见解和凯差不多。similar (a.) similarity (n.) 相似(之处)e.g. The two men have many similarities.这两人有许多相似之处。. The same as : 与一样=completely the samee.g. My opinions on the matter are the same as Kays. 我对这件事的见解和凯一样。He is the same age as his wife.他和他的妻子同岁。. Out of this study grew several related theories: one, evolution did occur 通过研究,他得出了一些相关理论:第一,物种的进化确实存在do用于强调主动词, 意为“的确, 确实”。 e.g. 一定要小心! Do take care!. arise from=arise out of : 因而产生,造成;源自于e.g. Problems arising out of the lack of communication.由于缺乏交流而产生的问题。. adapt (oneself) to: (使)适应 = get used to e.g. The children found its hard to adapt to their new school.孩子们发现很难适应新学校。adapt: 改编 adopt: 收养,领养 采用,采纳 e.g. My mother was adopted when she was four. 我母亲四岁时被人领养。 We should adopt hard attitude towards terrorists. 我们应当对恐怖分子采取强硬态度。. set forth: make known; declare(正式用语)宣布, 陈述,阐明e.g. He set these theories forth in his book他在一书中阐述了这些理论。. conflict with : (与)冲突,抵触,相左 e.g. This conflicts with the polices evidence. 这与警方的证据相矛盾。. concern oneself with: 关心, 爱护e.g. Nowadays, more and more people are concerning themselves with environmental problems.现在越来越多的人关心起环境问题来。. not onlybut as well: 不仅而且= not onlybut alsoe.g. He not only read the book but remembered what he had read as well.他不但读过此书, 并且记得所读的内容。. It is supposed that : 人们认为it 被用作形式主语,将真实主语从句置于句末。常见的还有:It is said/believed/reported that e.g. 听说他结婚了。 It is said that he has got married. Step Three: Post-task Phrase (任务后阶段) (28)1. Consolidation & Extension(知识拓展)(10)1)SV & SVP结构的区别SVP中的连系动词与表语共同说明主语的状况、变化等情况;而SV 中的不及物动词说明主语所发出的动作,句中所出现的状语一般限制谓语。.2)There be 句型四大特点a. 这种句型中的主语通常是表示不确定的人或事物的名词、代词及其短语。b. 这种句型中的谓语动词be可以用于现在时、将来时和过去时,但通常不用于进行时态。c. 这种句型中的谓语动词be还可以和情态动词、半助动词连用,构成动词性复合谓语。d. 这种句型中的谓语动词通常是be, 但也可以用其他表示存在、位置、运动等的动词作谓语。3.
