Unit 41. Teaching objectives:(1)Knowledge objectives: students can master some key words and expressions of the text. Students can acquire more about the future simple tense & the future-in-the-past tense.Students can learn how to develop a paragraph by process.(2)Ability objective: students listening, speaking, reading and writing abilities can be improved. cultivate students ability to discover, analyze and solve problems.(3)Emotional objectives:cultivate students awareness to environmental pollution and help them to realize the importance of protecting our earth.2. Teaching difficult points: enable students to listen for time in conversations and know how to talk about responsibilities.4.Teaching ProcedurePart One Listening and SpeakingStep 1. Pronunciation and listening skillsThe pronunciations of the words in brackets are difficult to distinguish. Listen carefully and check () the words you hear. ScriptsW: Please hurry up, its already five. Three quarters later my train is leaving.M: Dont worry, Madam. Ill get you there in time.Q: When is the train leaving? W: Its nine already. Why doesnt the meeting start?M: Well, the secretary says it is delayed 30 minutes.Q: When will the meeting begin? M: Could you give me some information about buses for Washington, please?W: They leave every hour. You just missed the nine oclock bus.Q: When is the next bus leaving? M: Say, what time is it? Is it really only seven-fifteen? My watch says eight-fifteen.W: You forgot to set your watch back.Q: What time is it now? M: Whats the time to leave?W: Half past five. That only leaves us 15 minutes to get to the airport.Q: When does the conversation take place? M: Its 10 oclock now. Tips英语时间通常用以下两种方法表达: 1. 直接表达法 1) 用基数词 + oclock来表示整点,注意oclock须用单数,可以省略。 如:eight (oclock) (8:00)。 2) 用基数词按“钟点 + 分钟”的顺序直接写出时间,表示非整点。如:eight five (8:05),eight forty (8:40)。 2. 间接表达法 1) 如果分钟数少于30,可用“分钟 + past + 钟点”表示,其中past是介词,意思是“过”。如:twenty past four (4:20)。 2) 如果所表示时间的分钟数多于 30,可用“(60分钟 - 分钟数)+ to +(原钟点数 + 1)”表示,其中 to 是介词,意思是“差”。如:twenty-five to nine (8:35)。注: 1) 当分钟数是 15 时,可用名词 quarter (一刻钟)表示。如:a quarter past eight (8:15)。2) 当分钟数是 30 时,可用名词 half (一半)表示。如:half past nine (9:30)。Step 2. Listen again and choose the best way to complete each of the followingScripts World Car Free Day was first started by over 30 cities in France on September 22, 1998. It was started to protect the environment. By now, more than 1,000 cities around the world have had a Car Free Day. The first Car Free Day in China was in Chengdu in 2001. Other cities including Taipei, Shanghai, and Wuhan, also support the day. In Beijing, more and more people are joining the campaign. It asks drivers to leave their cars at home for one day every month, and to walk or ride a bike to work. It also calls on Beijingers not to use cars on June 5th (the World Environment Day). The slogan for the day is, “If we drive for one less day, we can have one more nice day.” So far, more than 200,000 drivers have shown their support. They say, “We cant control the weather, but we can choose not to drive. We must do more for Car Free Day.” 3. Talk about the ways youre practicing to protect the environment. Part Three GrammarThe future simple tense (一般将来时)一般将来时表示将来某一时间的动作或状态,通常由“will + 动词原形”构成。主要用于以下几种情况: 1 表示将来要发生的动作或情况。如: 1) We will meet at the school gate. 2) She will be here at six oclock.2 用在 I think will. 这类句型中,表示看法。如: 1) I think theyll succeed. 2) I suppose they will come back.3 表示提出请求。如: 1) Will you telephone me this evening? 2) Will you type this for me?4 表示允诺。如: 1) I wont tell anybody what you said. 2) Ill be home in time for supper. 5 表示同意。如: Will you answer him? Yes, I will. 表示“将来”的其他结构包括:1 be going to + 动词原形,多用于口语中,常表示打算做某事或即将发生某事。 如:1) Tom is going to get married. 2) Its going to rain soon.2 be about to + 动词原形,表示就要发生的事。 如:The English evening is about to begin. 3 be to + 动词原形,表示安排或计划好了的事。 如:1) The boys are to go to school next week. 2) You are not to smoke in the office.另外,go,come,leave,start 等表示移动的动词,可用现在进行时表示即将发生的动作。 如:He is coming to see you tomorrow.The future-in-the-past tense (过去将来时)过去将来时表示从过去某时看将要发生的动作或事件,通常由“would + 动词原形”构成。 过去将来时主要有以下几种用法: 1 表示从过去某时看将要发生的动作或事件。如: 1) It was four oclock.
