Teach the new words.First, invite some students to read the new words in Section B to check their preview efficiency.After that, lead students to read these words and phrases. Correct their pronunciation and intonation.Give students several minutes to practice reading and make sentences with them.Later, show the word cards, ask students to spell and explain their meanings with textbook closed.2. Teach Activity 1a.This activity provides practice to master the new vocabulary and consolidate the target language.First, show the pictures of elephant and panda on the screen. Prompt students to talk about them.Encourage students to speak as much as they know.Then, lead students to read the sample sentence to know what to do in this activity and how to do it.Divide students into pairs to do this work.As they work, move around the room checking the progress and offering language support as needed.Finally, invite some students to present their sentences.Step PracticeTeach Activity 1b&1c.These two activities provide practice to develop students listening ability.First, lead students to have a quick look at the instructions to know what to do and how to do them.After that, play the tape twice for them to listen.The first time, they need to listen carefully and check the number they hear.The second time, they have to fill in the blanks to complete the sentences.Play one more time for them to check the answers.Finally, check the answers together.Step ConsolidationTeach Activity 1d.Ask students to read the sentences in the box.After that, ask students to do this game one by one.Encourage them to speak loudly and bravely, call attention to the tense and right forms of the adjectives and adverbs.If there is enough time, prompt students to talk about other animals they are familiar with like this.As they work, move around the room checking the progress and offering language support as needed.Step SummaryIn this period, we maily did some listening and speaking drills to check our listening efficiency. The practice helped students to improve listening and speaking skills. By doing this we could make good use of the goal language and we could use it skillfully.Step Homework1.
