Scenario B. Exercise 1Task1 - ATalk about the problems there might be with the following concerns when you travel internationally.Task1 B ExerciseTask1 B AnswerA: Problems: You are likely to become a victim of credit card theft and fraud. Solutions: 1. If you believe that your credit card was lost or stolen, or you have charges that you did not make, contact your credit card company and the police immediately.2. Never leave your wallet or purse unattended. 3. Never release your account number, expiration date, or personal information over the phone without verifying the callers identity. 4. Memorize your PIN (Personal Identification Number). DO not carry your PIN in your wallet. Do not write the PIN on your card or on a piece of paper. The PIN will allow a thief to gain unlimited access to bank machines around the world.5. When using your card, watch to be sure that extra imprints of your card are not being made. 6. When a merchant returns your card to you, make sure that it is your card. 7. Avoid signing blank charge receipts. Always insist that the exact amount be entered on the receipt before you sign. Always sign your receipts with an ink pen.B: Problems: Flying across multiple time zones disrupts your natural body rhythms, leading to sleep problems and other symptoms. Jet lag, also called time zone change syndrome, isnt inevitable, and you may find it harder to fly east, when you “lose” time, than to fly west, when you gain it back.Jet lag isnt life-threatening, but its a sleep disorder. It steals precious vacation timeyou need about a day to recover for each time zone crossedinterfers with global business and hijacks international diplomacy. Disturbed sleepsuch as insomnia, early waking or excessive sleepiness Irritability Difficulty concentrating or functioning at your usual level Headaches Muscle soreness Stomach problems, constipation or diarrhea Solutions: Coffee delays the body clock in the morning, and advances it at night. Coffee at mid-afternoon is neutral. Protein in meals stimulates wakefulness, while carbohydrates promote sleep. Putting food into an empty stomach helps synchronize the body clock.C: Problems: The likelihood that bags will be lost, damaged or late increases with air travel volume. Sometimes the airport knows where it is, but it isnt where its supposed to be. Youre always tired when you are waiting for your bags to come off the plane.Solutions: Stand just “downstream” of where the bags come off the plane onto the conveyer belt. There is always a crowd at the place right where the bags fall onto the belt, and youll do better to avoid that knot. If you are delayed getting to the baggage claim area, look around the belt area first for your luggage. If one of your bags is missing or damaged, no matter how tired you are, it is always best to deal with it right at the airport. Just go straight to the airline youre traveling with. Theyll direct you to the Lost and Found department.Damaged luggage is a bit different. Each airline will have its own ideas of what constitutes “damage” that they are responsible for. The basic idea is that “normal” wear and tear is your problem, and accidental rips and crunches are more of the airlines problem. Like with so many things, smile, be polite and you have a better chance of the airline employees discretion going your way.Task2Teachers notes contents 1. Level, task, language, aims, materials 2.
