This can be the most important event of the year except graduation or commencement day(毕业典礼)Students plan Homecoming Day for many weeks in advance. Several days before Homecoming, students start to decorate the school. There are signs to wish luck to the team, and many other signs to welcome all the graduates. Many people still come to Homecoming twenty or thirty years after their graduation. The members of school clubs build booths(摊位) and sell lemonade(柠檬),apples and sandwiches. Some clubs help to welcome visitors. During the day people like to look for teachers that they remember from long ago. Often they see old friends and they talk together about those happy years in school. Everyone soon comes to watch the football game. When the game is half over, the band comes onto the field and plays school songs. Another important moment is when the Homecoming Queen or King appears. All the students vote a most popular student. It is a great honor to be chosen. Homecoming is a happy day,but it is not perfect unless the football team wins the game. Even if the team loses, the students still enjoy Homecoming. At last he asked her, “Have you anything else to say?” Shocked by the unexpected question, the beautiful girl was quite at a loss, saying with hesitation(犹豫不决), “I have to talk with my parents before I give an answer.” Surprised, the examiner said calmly, “In that case, lets wait till you are ready.” The next day the girl came to tell that her parents agreed to her beginning work next Monday. But the examiner said regretfully, “Sorry, the job position is filled by another suitable candidate. You had better have a try in another place.” The beautiful girl was surprised. My parents are in their late 70s, and while they are quite healthy for their ages, I worry about what messages they are going to give me. I got such an email in September from my father. He sent an email from my cousin who told that her father, my uncle Reese, had passed away. The news made my mind go blank though I have met him less than a dozen times in my life, because Reese was the first of my parents siblings(兄弟姐妹) to die, and I was simply not ready for that. The memorial service(追悼会) was set in Florida, and I quickly decided I needed to go. I needed to be there for my father, and I needed to go for myself. Reese is about nine years older than my father, and I started to do the math in my head. I know that doesnt make sense, but I will do anything to reason that I still have a lot of time before I will be in my cousins shoes. Reeses memorial service was small with only family and perhaps a dozen of his friends. The funeral葬礼 was attended by an even smaller number, and then, the family gathered at a nearby bar to look at old photographs found among Reeses possessions when he died. As we drove back to the Orlando International Airport, I thought about how I am not sure what my parents want, not only in their memorial services, but also how they want to be remembered and where they want to be laid to rest. These are going to be difficult conversations, but I know I need to have them. Maybe not right now, but we do need to open the discussion at some point. It may feel too early, but I trust my parents will know that when adult children raise these questions, we do it out of love to honor their lives and their wishes.32Why do emails with FYI make the author uneasy?A.Shes too busy to read those emails. B.Shes afraid to get bad news about her parents./ C.They often bring unpleasant news. D.She dislikes her parents nonstop talking.33How did the author feel about the email from her cousin?A.Shocked.
