Status and functionThis is an important unit in the book of Grade two. The grammar focus, First conditional if clause, enables the students to talk about consequences in daily life. Learning goals Students get to know and summarize the structure and function of First conditional if clause . Students are able to use First conditional if clause to give advice by speaking , listening and writing .2. Teaching key points and difficulties First conditional if clause The ability to use the grammar in speaking ,listening and writing.Analysis of the studentsMost eighth graders have enough vocabulary and grammar knowledge. They want to use the language to do something with their life. Especially the grammar focus in this unit is related to their daily life, so it can arouse the students interest in learning English and improve their English ability.Teaching methodsCommunicative teaching methodTask-based language teaching methodStudy methodsSelf-directed learning methodCommunicative learning methodTeaching proceduresStep 1: Warming-up Greeting Ss as usual.设计意图 此环节是热身环节,课前问候是增加师生情感的第一步。Step 2:lead-inI will play the song “If you are happy” and ask students to sing it together. 设计意图 把这首歌放在此处来唱的目的是因为此歌曲里的歌词里有大量的if 引导条件状语从句。用学生熟悉的歌词导入本节课将要学习的语法项目,即祈if 引导的条件状语从句。同时唱歌可以活跃课堂气氛。Step 3:Presentation I will show Ss some pictures and ask them to try to complete the sentences , then checking them by challenging their memories .设计意图 通过第一课时的学习, 学生已经有了一定的目标语言基础,此处再结合图片挖空从空少到多的方式呈现if条件状语从句易于学生观察并发现其表达规律。之后的记忆挑战活动是为了检测学生对目标语言掌握的情况,以便下面总结它的结构和功能。Step4:Try to find the target language1. First the structure . I will lead Ss to summarize its structure according to the sentences above .If sb. do/does, sb. will do .Sb. will doif sb. do/does .3. Next the tense and meaning. I will ask students to observe its structure and try to summarize its tense and meaning.4. The tense for “if clause” is Simple Present Tense, but for main sentence is Simple Future Tense .We use If sb. do/does, sb. will do .to talk about things that may happen in the future . 设计意图 通过已经呈现的目标语言总结它的结构和功能直观又易于学生掌握。Step 4:Practicing of the target languageAfter they summarized the structure , meaning and tense , I think it s time for them to have some practice . This part includes three activities. Working on 3a1. I will ask Ss to fill in the blanks with the correct forms of the verbs in brackets, then check answers.2. I will ask my Ss to read the letter and find out Tinas problems, and then ask them to choose one of her problems to work in pairs to give Tina some advice with if clause . Next , ask some pairs to show.Finally, give Ss a proverb saying “If we pass a flower , we will have a good smell in hand.”设计意图 3a引导学生在语境中体会英语中动词因表意不同而采用不同形式。此外,我 pair work 的设计 不仅练习了学生的口语 并达到了学生帮助他人解决问题的能力。后面谚语的总结渗透了对学生情感态度与价值观的教育。 Working on 3bThis part includes two activities:Activity one: Wholly controlled practice I will show some of my “face-u” photos and ask Ss to choose the one he/she thinks the most beautiful . Then listen and say what he /she hears. And the voice from teachers.设计意图本身 Face 激萌照片的运用引起了学生的兴趣,再通过老师录音让学生听写出正确答案的设计,即增加了语法课堂活动的趣味性,也提高了学生的听和说能力。Activity two: Meaningful practice Ask Ss to complete the sentences using their own ideas设计意图 此活动具有开放性,巩固If clause的 同时可以激发学生的想象力和创造力。 Working on 3cI will give Ss some hot topics about their daily lifes in school to talk what will happen to him/her if by watching some short videos and encourage them to speak creatively.After all activities are finished , I will choose the best group and give them a prize .设计意图 最后播放一些和学生日常生活紧密相关的热点话题让学生用if clause 去讨论并连成chain story。不仅降低了本活动本身的难度,还起到了升华课堂的作用,让学生在学习的最后有语言输出。Step 5 Homework1. enjoy the Micro-lesson after class, take notes and do some exercise .设计意图 微课是以视频为主要载体,记录或开展教师课堂内外教学过程中围绕教材章节目录或某个知识点的教学的全过程。通常可用于课外预复习,供学生课外进行补习,也可以用于教师辅导教学参考。2. Read the chain story The Dreamy Milkmaid I have shared with them before class. Then practice. And I will ask some groups to show before next class.设计意图 group work 能够培养学生的合作能力,激发每一个成员智慧自主探究学习。Step 5 Blackboard Designing Unit 10 If you go to the party, youll have a great time!
