I knew that I should try to make my own living, to alleviate my mothers burden and hardship. I myself, on the other hand, wished for higher education. I secretly took the exam and was admitted to a normal school which provided students with all the necessities uniforms, books, board and lodging. Only then did I dare to break the news to my mother. For half a month, mother took pains to tide over the awkward situation till she finally collected enough money and then saw me off with tears. She would go to any length to see her son make something of himself. The day I finished normal school and was appointed headmaster of an elementary school, we both were too excited to sleep a wink that night.
