Listening and speaking method.Teaching tool: A recorder.Teaching procedures: Step 1 Presentation Say, Mid-term exam is coming.If I do well in the exams, my parents will be happy.If I fail in the exams my teachers will be disappointed with me.Write the sentences on the blackboard and ask the students to repeat the sentences. Then let students try to say some sentences like this.Step 2 1a & 1bSay, If we get good grades, well have a class party. If you go to the party, youll have a great time. Now lets talk about something about the party.1. Ask the students to look at the four pictures in activity 1a and get the students to tell what they see.2. Then ask them to match the statements and responses.3. Listen and check the answers together.4. Explain: The phrase “let sb in” means “let sb come in”.For example, The librarian wont let you in you have no library card.Step 3 Pairwork ( 1c )Look and make conversations. First ask two students to read the sample dialogue, then ask students to work with the partners and make a conversation using the things that are happening in the pictures. At the end, ask some pairs of students to act the conversations.Step 4 PresentationAsk, What will happen if I go to the party with Karen and Ann? Help the students to answer “You will have a great time if you go to the party with Karen and Ann.”Then ask “What will happen if I stay at home?” and ask one student to answer ( Youll be sorry if you stay at home.) Step 5 Drill Ask the students to work in pairs to talk about the pictures to practice the key structure:What will happen if Step 6 Listening ( 2a &2b ) If we want to organize a party, what will we do? Explain “organize a party” means “have a party” .Lets listen to the conversation between Andrea and her friend. Maybe they can tell me something about the party. 1. Ask the students to read the phrases in the box in activity 2a. 2. Ask the students to listen and number the phrases in the order they hear them. 3. Check the answers together. 4. Ask the students to read the questions in activity 2b. 5. Let them listen to the tape and answer the questions. 6. Ask some students to write their answers on the blackboard and check the answers. Step 7 Pairwork ( 2c ) First ask two students to read the sample dialogue. Then let the students work with the partners. Look at the chart in activity 2b and roly play the conversation between Andrea and her friend.At last ask a few pairs of students to practice the conversations for the class. Step 8 Grammar Focus1. Write the following sentences on the blackboard. I think I am going to stay at home. If you stay at home, you will be sorry. I think I will take the bus to the party. If you take the bus to the party, you will be late.2. Ask the students to read and watch the sentences.3. Help them conclude that in the “if” Adverbial Clause, when we talk about consequences, we can use the word “will” to show what is going to happen. But in sentences with “if”, we shouldnt use “will”, we should use the Simple Present Tense as future.Step 9 Group work If you are an English teacher, what will you do?
