校园规划与发展Campus Planning and DevelopmenCampus Planning and Development offers planning and design services to all sectors of the University. Our goal is to help create and maintain a quality learning and work environment, and to do so with important long term planning issues in mind. Our services range from initial space needs analysis to facilities design and project coordination-our staff can deliver a comprehensive proposal package. THE CITY OF KINGSTON OFFICIAL PLANThe City of Kingston has an Official Plan which sets out a planning context for the campus (See Appendix C). It attempts to balance the needs of the University against other municipal objectives. This document will affect future campus development in a number of important ways.第一部分5、金斯顿城区的官方计划金斯顿的城区有一个官方计划,这个计划陈述了一个与大学校园相关的规划(见附录C)。它试图平衡大学需求和其他市政设施。这个文件会在很多方面影响大学校园的未来发展。Campus ExpansionOne aspect of the Official Plan that has been deferred to the OMB is the proposal to reduce the area of land designated for future University use north of Clergy Street. A long-standing expectation, supported by the City of Kingstons previous Official Plan, has been that the campus would expand northwards to Johnson Street and westward to Collingwood Street. Indeed it is difficult to imagine expanding elsewhere. The new Official Plan, however, would constrain these traditional expectations by limiting the campus boundary to Clergy Street and establishing a Campus Expansion Special Policy Area. Building development will be subject to site plan control, and project design will be monitored to ensure that new buildings are visually and architecturally compatible with the existing fabric, that open space is conserved and designed to promote safety and convenience, that adjacent residential communities are protected, and that heritage is preserved. Johnson, King, and Division Streets are designated as arterials; Union, Alfred and Barrie Streets are identified as collectors. Richards事务所有限公司:土木工程,电气工程,结构工程McCormick Rankin国际公司:运输顾问Gabriel设计院:灯光顾问IFS联合公司:市林业和森林管理咨询Hanscomb咨询所:造价咨询公司The Revitalization of University Avenue - June 2007The revitalization of University Avenue the most vital street on campus marks the largest amount of funding for landscape improvements at Queens University, made possible by the generosity of Queens alumni.University Avenue tells a tremendously rich story that is interwoven with the history and traditions of the University and community. The street was initially held by the military as the site of proposed defensive fortifications and was purchased by Queens from the federal Department of the Militia in 1880. It continued in use as a Volunteer Parade Ground under lease from Queens. Throughout the years, University Avenue became the parade route for visiting dignitaries and served to largely define campus.The project to improve University Avenue is part of the Campus Plan developed by Queens University with input from the community several years ago, and is also identified in the Open Space Plan for Queens, currently in the draft stage.When completed, the project will provide a more accessible and more beautiful public street for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles. The roadway will be replaced, the sidewalk will be widened, and a new line of street trees in spacious lawns will re-establish the stately arched canopy that was lost to Dutch Elm disease. University Avenue will be a vital and visually exciting center for the campus.The design team was selected in May 2004. Three public meetings were held in 2004 where members of the campus and Kingston community met the design team and expressed their ideas and concerns about the project.The design team lead by the Toronto firm of du Toit Allsopp Hillier (urban design and landscape architecture) included Carl Bray and Associates Ltd. (heritage), the Ventin Group Architects (heritage architecture), McCormick Rankin Corporation (engineering and cost control), Richard Ubbens and Peter Simon (urban forestry), and Gabriel/design (lighting).The overall planning phase developed a schematic design for the street corridor and side yards between Clergy and Stuart Streets. This will guide implementation of this project as well as future improvements along the street such as the Queens Centre project and Richardson Hall renovations.Construction began on May 1, 2007. The tentative completion date is fall 2007 with some final plantings to be done in spr
