Structure: a. talk about dates. b. talk about birthdays. c.-When is your / his /her birthday? -My /His / Her /birthday is Objectives: 1. Instructional objectives a. Students learn new words, so that they can pronounce and spell them. b. Improve the students listening , speaking, reading and writing with the target language. 2. Educational objectives: a. Educate students to thank their parents. b. Students learn to love life and to be confident. 3. Personal objectives Try to treat every student as the same, because every life should be treasured. Important points: a. New words and their pronunciation. b. Structure: When is your birthday? My birthday is. When is her/his birthday? Her/His birthday is- Difficult points : a. Its difficult for students to master so many new words in a class b. How to express the date. Teaching methods: Situation teaching, pairwork, groupwork, task-teaching. Teaching steps:Step 1 Lead-in (2 minutes) 1、Greet the students. T : Good morning , boys and girls. S s: Good morning T : Lets sing the song “Happy birthday to you!.”Students sing the song T: Show the ppt and study the sentence. (Unit 8 When is your birthday?). 2、Teach new word :whenStep 2 Presentation 1、(show the ppt ) Look at the calendar . There are 12 months in a year (months)Then Teach the twelve months (JanuaryDecember). 2、Spelling and pronunciation . 3、Students read all the new words together. Step3 1a (play a PK game)1、Before this , divide all the class into two groups. Have a competition between them. 2、Play the recording . Students listen and repeat. 3. After listening, two groups play the Pk game about months words. Step 4 activity 2a This activity introduce ordinal numbers. 1、We have learned the months . Now please look at the picture Lets learn ordinal numbers. 2、Teach 1st -31st play the recording . students listen and repeat . 3、(show the ppt )Two groups continue playing the PK game about ordinal numbers and dates.Step 5 1b Listening Practice .1.While-listening Play the recording. Students listen and number the conversations. 2. After-listening Check the answers and ask students to read the conversations. Step6 Pairwork 1.Students work in pairs. Practice the conversation above. 2.Ask some pairs to act in class. 3.Then play a game: S1asks “When is your birthday?” S2 answers and asks S3 “When is your birthday?” Step72b and 2c Listening Practice 1. Play the recording . Students circle the numbers they hear.Check the answers in 2b.2. Play the recording again. Students match names, months and dates.3. Check the answers in 2c.Step8.Pairwork. Students work in pairs. Make up conversations with the information in 2c. Ask some pairs to act in class. Step9 Make a survey 1、Do you know your parents birthdays? Id like to make a survey to see if you are good sons and daughters When is your mothers birthday? Her birthday is When is your fathers birthday? His birthday is. 2、Students work in pairs and fill in a chart of the survey. According to the information in the chart, give students a report. Teacher makes a model for students first.3.
