Unit 9 What does he look like?Section A ( the first period)Step I. Warming up Watch a video and think about the question “What do they look like?”Teacher: OK. Everyone, class begins. Good morning, everyone.Students:Good morning, Mrs Long.Teacher:Very good. Sit down, please.Students:Thank you.Teacher:Today, we are going to learn a new unit. First, lets watch a video and tell me “Who are they?”, clear? So, ready? Go! First, the teacher made a video about all the teachers who are teaching the students right now by herself. In the video, all the teachers are showing their different looks and also this attracted the students so much. After showing the video, the students are given the question “Who are they?” to think about. Students were easily to give their answers “They are our teachers.” or “They are my teachers.” Then, the teacher told the students that “They have different looks, right?” according to the pictures of different teachers. And naturally posed a question “So, I would like you to think about what do they look like?” Students were highly encouraged to think about the question. And then the teacher can easily get into the teaching unit “Today, we are going to learn unit 9, what does he look like?” “First, lets learn some new words.”Step II. Presentation Teach the new words and new sentence patterns. The teacher used the pictures of different teachers to lead in and to teach the new words as well as the new sentence patterns. And encouraged them to practice with their classmates at the same time, which can efficiently strengthen the knowledge.Teacher: Lets see their hair styles. Do you know “hair”?Students:Yes. “头发”.Teacher: Very good! So look at the pictures and tell me “what does she look like?”. She has?(the teacher pointed to one picture and asked)Students:Long hair.Teacher:What does she look like? (the teacher pointed to another picture and asked.)Students:She has short hair.(然后第一至四组问“What does she look like”。第五至八组回答“She has long/short hair”。 然后,让学生自主地和同桌进行训练。 同时,老师在黑板上板书“long/short hair”。)接着,老师用同样的方式教授新单词“straight hair, curly hair, height, tall, of medium height, build, heavy, of medium build, thin”。同时,让学生熟悉句型“What does she/he look like?”“She/He has”.“She/He is”. 在这个教授过程中,老师要同时在鼓励学生互相练习句型,单词时,在黑板上进行板书。Step III. Group PK 1: Sharp Eyes Rules:1. 两队PK; 2. 根据图片快速反应,起立说出物品单词,如:straight hair; 3. 起立越快,回答越大声的为本队加一分。 Teacher: Please look at the rules and make sure you know it, OK? Then stand up and be quick.Students:OK.Teacher:Ready? Go!(老师展示这些中文“高的,中等身高,矮的;胖的,中等身材,瘦的;长发,直发,卷发”;学生根据展示的中文依次抢答,回答出相应的英文:“tall, of medium height, short; heavy/fat, of medium build, thin; long hair, straight hair, curly hair.”在这个过程中,和学生强调,“different looks”分为“height, build, hair”。)Step IV. Practice 1a Match the words with the people in the picture. You can use some letters more than once. 1. _e_ has short hair 2. curly hair _b_ 3. long hair _a_ 4. straight hair _a_ 5. _h_ is tall 6. short _f_ 7. of medium height _g/c_ 8. thin _c/h_ 9.heavy _d_ (带学生熟悉图片,提前让他们找出标在头发上的“a, b, e”, 然后梳理单词。)Step V. Listening 1b Listen and fill in the blanks in the picture above. Can you find Amys friend? Teacher: First, lets role play the conversation in the picture. Boys“Is that your friend?”Girls “No, it isnt.”Boys“What does he look like? Is he tall or short?” Girls“Well, hes really tall. And he has curly hair.”Then let the students listen and fill in the blanks and ask students to check the answer. “So, who is Amys friend?” Students:“H is Amys friend.”Step VI. Group PK2: Pair work A: What does look like? B: He/She has is (展示一些学生和老师的图片,让学生和同桌进行pair work。首先,分别给学生相应的例子,老师带学生进行描述。)Teacher: -What does he look like?Students:- He has short straight hair. - He is really tall. - He is of medium build.Teacher: -What does she look like?Students:- She has kind of long straight hair. - She is of medium height. - She is of medium build.(引导学生从“hair,height, build”三方面进行描述,然后展示他们的成果。 然后给学生充分的时间和同伴进行训练,然后展示,让他们熟练输出句型。)Step VII. Group PK3: Exercise 用be动词或者 have的正确形式填空。1. He_is_tall and he _has_big eyes.2. She _is_of medium height,and she _has_curly hair.3. She_is_ very short and she _is_very young(年轻的).4. I _am_ kind of heavy and I_have_ long curly hair.(让学生注意区分“is, has”还有三单和不是三单的区别,注意第四题。)Step VIII. Sum up What does he/she look like? He/SheStep IX. Group PK 4:Describing & guessing! A: I have a good friend in our class. He is a boy.(She is a girl.) He/ She has hair. He/ She is thin/tallHe/ She is kind of/really/very .He/ She canHe/ She likesHe/ She is good atWho is he/she ?B:Is he ? C:Is she ? D:Is he ? For example: A: I have a good friend in our class. He is a boy.He has short straight hair.He is very tall and thin.He is kind of cute.He can sing and dance.He likes geography very much.He is good at playing basketball. B:Is he ? C:Is she ? D:Is he ? A:Yes,you are right! (这一部分介绍给学生,然后留做家庭作业。在第二节课的时候就可以来展示,让学生来play this game。) Step X. Emotions inputDo you think your good look is the most important (最重要的)?Han Hong is heavy , but she is a friendly and great singer.(此处插入一首韩红的“青藏高原”,让学生感受她的音乐的魅力。) Wang Zulan
