Dr. Anjan Nath Okay, the topic of my talk today is Homeopathy. Homeopathy in Chinese is 同類療法. Its a system of medicine, which is uses natural products and it has very high energy level. Its not like other medicine, which will take a large quantity. You see people coming out from the hospitals carrying a bag. In homeopathy, we dont use so much medicine. We use very small quantity. You see this bottle with small pills. One pill is enough for the dose. So, this bottle may have three thousand pills. It uses for three thousand doses. Now this is the beauty about this medicine. And the other beauty of this medicine is you dont treat a disease. If somebody comes and says, “ oh, I 風濕痛” I said dont tell me the name of the disease. Tell me how you see. And they will say I have pain here. Ill say what kind of pain? When did you get the pain? Oh, when I swim in the water. Is the pain on the right or on the left? So, I have to ask many questions. And also I have to know his mind. Now, many times I think you have experiences when you go to the hospital and you have some problems. And you tell the doctor. The doctor will say, all right, go ahead and have blood test, go have a urine test or go have a stool test or go have an x-ray, go and have a solo graph. So many tests he will tell you go and have the tests. Then, if all the tests are negative, you go back to the doctor. The doctor will say nothing wrong with you. Why are you coming here? Go and take good exercise. Have you had that experience? Ive got so many pains and they said dont bother. What is the main thing that you try to identify a disease? And if you cant identify the disease from the machine, they tell you nothing wrong with you. You just go and leave, go and leave the hospital. But then you still feel the pains. Now in the study of homeopathy, these are the cases, which come to us. Because we feel that the other doctors cannot help but for us this peculiar symptoms are very important. We look at the total person from the mind, from total physical illness, from the skin and the other problems. So, you see three of them have 拉肚子, but three times are different. One of them will say, oh, when I have eaten some kind of food, I 拉肚子. Some people will say whatever I eat, I 拉肚子. And some of you might say, oh, when I drink cold juice, I 拉肚子. So, you see, again, you have three different kinds. So, I have to understand the three different patients. You know what are their symptoms. Okay, if you drink cold waters, you have it. And you have it at twelve in the afternoon or twelve oclock at night, right? If pain, its like burning pain, its like , or its like You see, you have different kinds. You dont just have 拉肚子. Its what kind of 拉肚子? So, all three of them have 拉肚子, but all three of them have different kind of medicine. So, I have treated individual. I have to make, for me, for different patients symptoms are different. They are not the same. Thats the most important. How will the patient describe their symptoms? Many times the patient will come and talk, talk, talk. Doc. this this this A lot of them are so anxious and they want to talk so many things. But another kind of patient will come and I said whats wrong? Hell said I dont know, nothing wrong with me Its another kind of mental symptom. He feels not well, but he cant describe the symptoms. So, we have to deal with individual live and read his symptoms and consider if it is the physical symptoms or it is ill, even the behavior of the patient is very important. We dont find three or four medicines for out patients. We have to find out one medicine which is the most suitable for the patient for all the symptoms. You may have twenty symptoms. I cant not match twenty symptoms, according to the medicine I have. But I just have to reach to other means. How is your mind? Is the mental symptoms fit your physical symptoms? Okay, what is homeopathy? You can read that. Its very simple. Homeopathy is natural proof of medicine. It has no side- effects. Its a body- heal. We dont use medicine to suppress a disease. Suppress is to stop. To cure your finger, no, you cut it down. You have not cured it. You removed it, because you removed it, youll find the disease goes to another places.In Homeopathy, we try to stimulate the body. You know, the body has 氣. You know, in Chinese, 氣功. So, we try to bring up your氣 to such a level to respond to the natural balance of your body and therefore you can be cured. So, it doesnt matter what you are suffering from. It is sometimes you have many different kinds of problems. You have sore throat. You have skin rash. Sometimes you find pain on your sides. Maybe, I can give you ten symptoms. But can I give you ten medicines for ten different syndromes? This is not possible, because your body needs the balance. In Chinese medicines you also have ying and yang, right. And we have to balance the ying and yang. So, in this our homeopathy system of medicine, we dont call it ying and yang. We dont call it chi. We call it “the vitamin force.” The body has its own force. We say, fire, which gives you life. So, if your dynamic force is within the body, to fight the disease and to bring your body back to normal balance. So, this is what we mean to stimulate the body to function normally. We give the medicine, yes, but its so small. It doesnt like the western medicine. You have to take three times a day or four times a day, with a large quantity of pills. Its so more, like a meal, very difficult, right. So, Ill talk about how we do this. In Homeopathy, you all have heard of the father of medicine. Now its very interesting that I talked about Samuel Hannaman, you see its April 10th, today is his birthday. And Im so happy to be able to talk about him. Its a great tribute to a great hand to a great master. He is not from a very rich family. He is from average and poor family. Just take once a day and come back. Then, he came back after a few days and he said,” doctor, Im cured.” “ Cured? What this?” “Its the new medicine that you gave me.” And he thought, “what did I do?” I washed his bottle. I put some alcohol, shook it and gave it to him. What is the meaning of this. I diagnosed the medicine. You see when I washed it, there was still a few medicine left. And I shook it, which means I excited it. So, in the experiment, he did the same thing. He took one drop of the medicine. Put 99 drops of alcohol in it and shook it very vigorously until he ended up making 5, 6 or 7 sticks. And then he said okay now I have diagnosed the medicine and I shook it so many times. But this medicine should be no medicine yet. So, hes being in a chemistry, tested all the medicines but found its no medicine yet and then, he found hes cured. So, it is very interesting. He tried to find out all the poisons, which we use as medicine. Palo Dona, its the poison of some plants. And he said people get poisoned with this kind of plant, right. So, now let me try. The problem is you didnt wear enough warm clothes. You went out in the cold, so once you removed it, even if you put on clothes and you went to the fire and you remove it. So, on this principle, the same with when you are ill and your body shows the symptom. And the symptom will not disappear until the source of the symptom has been removed. Just imagine, if you dont remove the cause of the symptom, the symptom is still there. It is the similar kind of concept. If there is a cause, you remove the cause, then your problem will be solved, no matter what the cause is. So, for the doctor, the cause, what cause your problem, that is the paramount, extreme interest for the doctor. If he can remove the cause from the patient, no matter when it happens, then itll be alright. Now, let me just tell you a very interesting incident when I first began study homeopathy. At that time, Im also doing my masters in English. I had a lot of patients, especially poor people. They came to see me and I gave medicine to them. And one day, one of my very close family friends, his relative was 73 years old. And he asked me if I could treat his eyes because he has catalyzed. He had three or four operations on it, but each time he removed it, it grew back in six months or one year. I told him I never treated catalyzed but I treated the patient. I asked him if you could give me your history. So I painfully took down his history and looked at it. And when I looked at his history, I got an idea but I couldnt really in point his cause.
