Section A (1a-2c)Period I教学设计西安市东城第一中学 康琳钰1、 Analysis of the teaching material: This unit is made up of 3 parts: Section A, Section B and Self Check. It is mainly about the topic: “When is your birthday?”. This is the key part of this unit, and the core of teaching. By asking each others birthday, students can improve friendship between classmates, and learn to communicate in English. The learning content is close to the students life, so students will be interested in it. The main content of Section A Period I is to let the students learn how to ask someones birthday and the date of writing and expression. By talking about the birthday of their family, their classmates and their parents, students can understand the meaning of birthday more. By asking the birthday, students learn to care about others, enhance the consciousness to communicate with people. 2、 Teaching Aims and Demands:1. Knowledge Objects : Vocabulary :Months of the year(January,February,March,April,May,June,July,August,September,October,November,December );The Ordinal Numbers (first, second, third, fifth, ninth, twelfth, twentieth, thirtieth.). Language in daily communication: How old are you? Im. When is your birthday? My birthday is on. When is Sbs birthday? Sbs birthday is on . Grammar: Date expressions2. Ability Objects:In a series of listening, speaking, reading and writing activities, train students logical thinking, quick reaction ability and practice ability, so that the students can be skilled in using “ When is your birthday?” in communication.3. Moral Object: Students learn to know how to express concern at classmates.4. Learning strategies: Role-playing、Self-evaluating三、Teaching Key Points:1. By learning the vocabulary (months of the year; ordinal numbers from 1st to 31st), let the students know how to talk about the date. 2. Guide the students to master the “When” special questions.四、Teaching Difficult Points: Student should master individual ordinal word spelling:Example: first, second, third, fifth, ninth, twelfth, twentieth, thirtieth. Students should know how to apply knowledge in order to develop the topic of this class. 五、Teaching methods: 1. The task-based teaching: Digital games. I firstly prepared cards of Cardinal Numbers in order, and then handed them out to the students, asking what numbers they have.Guessing games. Students try to guess some famous stars ages and birthdays.2. Communicative teaching method: The Communicative teaching method is mainly given in classroom teaching,and I try to provide as much as possible chances for the students to listen, speak, and read, learning English by means of communication. 六、Learning methods instructions:1. In the teaching process, to create an open, harmonious, positive language atmosphere, I make the class a colorful stage to let the student learn English in high spirit.2. Through listening, speaking, reading, writing, games, contests, etc., I cultivate the students communicative competence to develop their thinking ability. 七、teaching time: 40 minutes八、Teaching procedures:. Warming-up and revision 1. Greet the Ss as usual.2. Review the numbers 0 31 in English. Show them numbers from 1 to 31 and lead students to read them one by one . Ask them about their age and their parents ages. Show a picture of a famous actress called Liu Tao. Ask them to guess her age. . Presentation 1.Show a picture to them. There are some students in lines in the picture. Then 12 smiling faces appear in a line. Through these smiling faces ,I will teach the meaning of ordinal numbers. 2.Show the pictures of the twelve months on the screen one by one. Teach the names of the twelve months: January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, November, December. Lead them to read each month one by one with month paper . Then hand them out to twelve students. Ask them to read each month and put the twelve months in the correct place on the blackboard. 3.Show them each month on the screen out of turn, encourage them to speak them out as fast as they can . 4.Get them to say the complete sentences to describe each month with ordinal number. 5.Work on 1b. Students listen and number the conversations. Check their answers quickly. Listen and repeat. 6. Show them cardinal numbers and ordinal numbers from one to thirty-one, teach them the rules between them. Make a summary to help students to memorize Ordinal Numbers . Listening & Practice 1. Work on 2a. Play the recording for the Ss to listen and repeat the ordinal numbers from 1st to 31st. Ss read the new words and try to remember them. 2. Work on 2b. Listen and circle the numbers they hear in 2a.3. Show them some ordinal numbers , ask and help them to speak them out ,correct the mistakes if necessary.4. Work on 2c. Listen and match the names, months and dates. Then ask and answer questions to talk about these children s birthdays with students . At last , get them to work in pairs to practice dialogues. . Production 1. Learn how to express dates. Ask and answer the questions about the dates between teacher and the students. 2.Ask and answer the questions about the birthdays between teacher and the students. Emphasize the differences between in and on. Then get them to work in pairs to practice target language. 3.Guessing games. Show a picture of a famous star- Fan Binbin, let them guess her birthday. 4.Ill show them a passage missing the dates, ask them to come to the blackboard and write them down in English. 5. Group work. Let them ask and answer questions in their groups to find out their group members birthdays and fill in the chart. Then let the best one give a report . Then check it in class.V.Summary Sum up what they have learned in this class.
