The Analysis of Teaching Material 过去进行时是人教版新目标八年级上册第五单元的重点语法，同时也是初中阶段学生学习到的第四种时态。主要是表达过去在某一具体时间或者一段时间正在发生的活动。对于过去进行时的学习，一方面可以让学生复习现在进行时的应用；另一方面让学生来对比这两种时态的区别，从而更好地掌握住过去进行时。而第五单元中，又引出了when和while引导的时间状语从句在过去进行时中的应用！从而使得学生必须能够正确应用它们。II. The Analysis of Students八年级的学生对于现在进行时和一般过去时的学习已经有相当长的一段时间了，所以会有遗忘的现象。而现在学习了过去进行时，将是这两种时态的糅合。对于新语法知识的学习，必须让学生吃透它的定义，了解其应用范围。所以，教学过程中要已基础为主，伴随大量练习让学生操练，从而达到巩固新知的目的。一边让学生来复习现在进行时和一般过去时，巩固旧识；一边也可以让学生接触新的知识，提高英语学习水平。III. Meanwhile, ask them to pay enough attention to the time adverbials. Then, give them enough time to watch the structures to know its different sentence patterns.
