精品文档How to make English teaching in the primary school more interesting and productiveIntroduction:With the increasing inter-dependence of countries all over the world, English, as a universal language, has played a more and more important role in the world today. And having a command of English is then considered to be a must in the 21st century. China has always attached great importance on education, especially on its peoples English learning, and it has implemented a policy of learning English from the primary school. Yet the teaching achievements are not as productive as it supposed to be. The reason, as far as I concerned, lies mainly on the teachers part. Because there are little difference in the IQ levels between the kids after their birth. And what matters is whether their teachers can fully tap their aptitude. Since classroom is the main place and also the prime time for the pupils to learn English, then if we ignore the full use of class learning, that means we have given up the valuable and limited time and space for learning. Therefore English teachers in the primary school are in face of a very significant issue, that is how to make the English class more interesting and attracting, thus providing a more relaxed learning environment for the kids. As regards to the above analysis, so the topic about my research is how to make English teaching in the primary school more interesting and productive. As for this point, I will make a simple analysis from three aspects. They are creating a good and harmonious learning environment as the premise, motivating the students interests as the foundation and multimedia-aided teaching. Since interests are of vital importance in the pupils learning process, I will then put my emphasis on this part by introducing some effective ways of fostering the students interests. creating a good and harmonious environment for learning Classrooms can be considered to be an ecological system. Then the environment of the classroom and the inhabitants of that environment students and teachers are consistently interacting. Therefore teachers should make full use of the teaching materials of the textbook to create life-like scenarios in an amicable manner to make learning much more interesting and easier. For example, before starting the class, the teacher can make a small talk in English with the students, sing an English song or watch an English movie together, thus pacing the way for the theme of their teaching. simulating curiosityInterest serves as the best teacher in the world. Since English teaching in the primary school is just regarded as a brief introduction of English, so we should always put fostering the pupils interests on the first place. As is known to all, interests are not inborn but cultivated in the days of learning. So we can see that the ability to arouse curiosity is one characteristic of intrinsically motivating activities. So curiosity increases interest. Also, students interests increase when they are involved in learning activities and their teachers use personalized and concrete examples that apply in the real world. To increase interest, the teachers goal is to initially capture the students attention and then maintain their involvement in the learning activities. As for this aspect, the following principles and ways, I think can be adopted.various ways of teachingThere are many approaches of teaching English, such as experiential teaching, inquiry-based teaching and task-based method, to name a few only. Whatever methods we adopt; we should have a clear guiding principle which is constantly upgraded. Personally I think we should pay a special attention to the following points as regard to choosing an appropriate approach.objectivityThe learning of English is a kind of language learning. The ultimate goal of our learning of English words, phrases and sentences is to learn the language. So we cannot separate the two from each other.ServiceabilityThe teaching methods weve adopted must be conductive to the teaching contents; or rather the methods which are used to serve for the students in essence should be in line with the difficult points of our teaching practice.varietyMore often than not, the school-children have a strong curiosity but they cannot keep a long-time attention on subject, which require us to use a much colorful and different teaching methods so as not to bore them FlexibilityThe teachers should use different ways as regards to teaching students with different levels and improve it constantly in a timely manner in their teaching practices.ii different ways of excisingResearches on the primary school kids show that a majority of the school-children have a high interest on the activities which need both their hands and heads to finish. Therefore teachers should try to create those needed activities as many as possible when necessary in the teaching practices, which can not only improve the participation of the pupils, deepen the relationship between teachers and students but also improve their ability of practice and thinking independently. What is more, it is in line with the psychological feature of the children. Through this way, teachers will find it not so difficult to deal with the class, while the students will feel learning is more interesting. integrating teaching with gamesAs love of playing is the kids nature, hence teachers can take advantage of this to organize their teaching activities. They can design some simple games for the students to review or consolidate what theyve learned, making the dull learning more interesting. For instance, after teaching the English words about fruits, the teachers can design a picking-and-guessing game, that is to draw a tall tree with lots of word-cards sticking on it on the blackboard, and then the teacher read the words on the cards while the students are required to pick the corresponding “fruit from the “tree”. If the students pick the right one, they can get some small gifts as praise. role-playing Role-playing caters to the pupils psychology of expressing themselves; meanwhile it can create a more dynamic classroom. task-based language teachingWhen finishing a new class, teachers can give some pictures or illustrations for the students to think over and then leave some specific tasks for them to do in group discussions. By this way, teachers are only a guild or a helper while the students masters in the learning process. multimedia-aided teachingWe live in a multimedia world, surrounded by complex images, movement and sound. So perhaps it is not surprising that part of our human evolution has focused on making our technology reflect the color and clamor of our surroundings. In educational technology, multimedia has been a steadily growing presence. Multimedia simply means multimedia or a combination of media. And the media can be still pictures, sound, motion video, and animation and/or text items combined in a product whose purpose is to communicate information. Therefore teachers can adopt this technology to present their more lifelike situation to trigger the pupils interests and help them understand the language points better. To set up English class in the primary school is a great event in the full implementation of education for all-round development. As an English teacher, if we keep a continuous exploration and are dedicated to the practice of the education reform, then our English teaching will have a promising future. Interests, knowledge and abilities are what the pupils need most and also what we English teachers pursue at. In the information age of today, we English teachers should face the reality, deepen our research, establish a student-centered educational philosophy and find the best way to create the most dynamic classroom, thus laying a solid foundation for the overall-developments of the pupils.References n 1 Betsy Parrish. 2004.
