He would call in advance to make sure there was no alcohol at the party. I got so angry with him for laying down the low. I would scream, “I hate you!” Dad would yell back. “Good! I dont care! ”Deep down I knew he did.One time at a party, I drank too much alcohol and got so sick. I said. “Call my dad.” Next thing, Dad was carrying me to the car. I woke up the next morning, thinking I would definitely be criticized. As expected, I got a roasting, but I now understand why I need discipline.Dad was 29 when he got his big roles in films. I had an early start at the age of nine with a role in a 1900s TV series, but it wasnt until I finished film studies that I pursued my career as an actress. Like those early days for Dad, I faced lots of rejections. Working in such a competitive industry, Ive sometimes thought, “I cant do this anymore.”Once, after a trip to Hollywood, I returned to Australia so depressed and spent months in my bedroom painting, listening to Eckhart Tolles music and trying to find myself again. Dad sat me down and said. “Alice, I know its hard but its all about persistence.”Now I get to work with Dad a lot, which I love. We both passionate about acting, which comes from us being so interested in people. If it werent for Dad, I wouldnt be where I am today. Hes my biggest fan, and when you have that in your life you can go a long way.21. What does the underlined phrase “got a roasting” in Paragraph 2 mean?A. got scoldedB. got drunkC. got injuredD. got stimulated22. Which of the following statements is WRONG?A. It is her father who has helped shape the author who she is.B. They are both enthusiastic about acting and interested in peopleC. As an actor, her fathers career took off smoothly at the very beginning.D. she was bitter about her father as a school girl as he was too strict with her.23. Which of the following best describe the authors father?A. talkative but diligentB. strict but caringC. persistent and humorousD. passionate and active【答案】21. A 22. C 23. 根据画线词前的“thinking I would definitely be criticized. As expected.” 根据第三段中的“Like those early days for Dad, I faced lots of rejections.” “Alice, I know its hard but its all about persistence.”可知,作者沮丧时,爸爸在身边陪着并鼓励她,这说明他很体贴,由此可知,作者的爸爸既严厉又体贴,故B项正确。【点睛】词义猜测题的难度较大,对画线词上下文的理解是关键,例如本篇第1题,根据画线词前的“thinking I would definitely be criticized. As expected.”可知,作想自己肯定会挨批评了,正如预想的那样,她挨骂了,“As expected”表明画线词与“be criticized”意思相近,由此可知画线词词义为“挨骂”。BPeople tend to accept groups standards of behavior and thinking in a group work. Many illustrations(例证) could be given of this from everyday life, but what is of particular interest to psychologists is how much peoples judgments and opinions can be changed as a result of group pressure. Asch and others noticed that people in a group will agree to statements that are contrary to the evidence of their senses. It would be a mistake to think that only particular changeable people are chosen to take part in experiments of this type. Usually highly intelligent and independent people are used.In a typical experiment, this is what may happen. The experimenter asks for volunteers to join a group which is investigating visual sense. The participants are not, therefore, aware of the real purpose of the experiment. Each volunteer is taken to a room where he finds a group of about seven people who are cooperating with the experimenter. The group is shown a standard card which contains a single line. They are then asked to look at a second card. This has three lines on it. One is obviously longer than the line on the first card. One is shorter and one the same length. They have to say which line on the second card is the same length as the line on the standard card. The other members of the group answer first but what the volunteer does not know is that they have been told to pick one of the wrong lines. When his turn comes he is faced with the consistent opinion of the rest of the groupall the others have chosen line A but he quite clearly sees line B as correct. What will he do? According to Asch, more than half of the victims chosen will change their opinion. What is equally surprising is that, when interviewed about their answers, most explained that they know the group choice was incorrect but that they yield to the pressure of the group because they thought they must be suffering from an optical illusion(视觉假象), or because they were afraid of being different.24. The psychologists are especially interested in _A. the evidence of the experiment.B. the changes in the attitudes of people.C. the difference in peoples behaviorD. the degree of changes of peoples opinions25. Why more than half of the victims changes their opinions in the experiment?A. Because they had been told about the answerB. Because thought the group choice was correct.C. Because they submitted to the group pressureD. Because their eyes were suffering from illusion.26. The purpose of the author in writing this passage is to _.A. illustrate the influence of group pressure on individualsB. encourage people to act against any groups opinionC. invite more volunteers to join in Aschs experimentD. tell the readers how to perform psychological experiment【答案】24. D 25. C 26. A【解析】本文是一篇说明文,心理学家通过实验发现团体压力对个人的判断有很大的影响,很多人会迫于团体压力而改变自己的观点。【24题详解】细节理解题。根据第一段中的“but what is of particular interest to psychologists is how much peoples judgments and opinions can be changed as a result of group pressure.”可知,心理学家尤为感兴趣的是,人们的观点和判断在多大程度上因团体压力而改变,也就是对人们观点的变化程度特别感兴趣,故D项正确。【25题详解】细节理解题。根据第三段中的“most explained that they know the group choice was incorrect but that they yield to the pressure of the group”可知,超过一半的受害者改变了观点是因为他们屈服于团体压力,故C项正确。【26题详解】主旨大意题。通读全文可知,本文介绍了实验证明人们会因为屈服于群体的压力而改变自己的观点和判断,由此可知,作者写这篇文章就是为了证明团体压力对个人的影响,故A项正确。CTired of dealing with those slow, dumb, and unfriendly hotel staff? Many of us have problems with negative thoughts playing on the channel of our minds, but if you re engaging in it constantly, and you believe it, it could be destroying your sense of self-esteem._31_What can you do? Here are some suggestions:1. Live in the momentSelf-talk is so subtle that we often dont notice its effect on our mood and belief system. Key things to notice are “if only” or “what if” statements: the former keep you stuck in the past with regret, while the latter keep you fearful of the future. _32_ So stay in the present moment.2. Visualize the good thingsIf we want to change the negative tapes playing in our heads, we have to visualize ourselves positively that means seeing yourself non-judgmentally. How would that look? Draw a picture in your mind and expand on it.3._33_Whatever you believe, youll experience more, and youll also find yourself behaving in ways that are congruent(一致的) with your beliefs. So start believing the best about yourself: act as if you believe that youre a valuable and worthy person.4. Develop positive thoughts_34_ What are your strengths? What are you good at? Keep your thoughts in the here-and-now. Instead of saying “Im not good enough”, try saying “I am capable. I accept myself the way I am.”Thinking poorly about ourselves gets us nowhere and is extremely self-limiting._35_A. Pay attention to the causeB. Recognize that actions always follow beliefsC. There is nothing you can do about the past, and the future isnt here yet.D. In short, it brings your focus on your failures, and that gets you nowhere.E. Negative thoughts account for d feelings that hook you into being that youre a failure.F. Instead of always putting yourself down think of some things you actually like about yourself.G. Decide today to turn off the negative self-talk channel in your mind and develop your true potential.【答案】31. D 32. C33. B 34. F35. G【解析】本文是一篇说明文,介绍了如何消除自己心中的消极想法的几点建议。【31题详解】根据本空前的“but if you re engaging in it constantly, and you believe it, it could be destroying your sense of self- esteem”可知,如果你一直这样做并相信消极思想,它会毁掉你的自尊,故D项(简而言之,它把你的注意力集中在你的失败上,这不会给你带来任何好处)符合语境。【32题详解】根据本空后的“So stay in the present moment.”可知,所以要活在当下,故C项(对于过去你无能为力,而未来还未到来)符合语境。【33题详解】根据本段中的“youll also find yourself behaving in ways that are congruent(一致的) with your beliefs.”可知,你会发现自己的行为方式与信念一致,故B项(认识到行动总是遵循信念)符合语境。【34题详解】根据本空后的“Instead of saying “Im not good enough”, try saying “I am capable. I accept myself the way I am.”可知,不要说“我不够好”,试着说“我行,我接受现在的自己”,故F项(与其总是贬低自己,不如想想自己身上可爱的地方)符合语境。【35题详解】根据本空前的“Thinking poorly about ourselves gets us nowhere and is extremely self-limiting.”可知,把自己想得很差只会让我们一事无成,而且极度限制自我,故G项(今天就停止在脑海中用消极的思想贬低自己,开发你真正的潜能)符合语境。第三部分:语言运用(共两节,满分45分)第一节 完型填空(共20小题,每题15分,满分30分)阅读下面短文,从短文后各题所给A、B、C和D四个选项中,选出可以填入空白处的最佳选项,并在答卡上将该项涂黑。In 1984, I, a passionate student, was beading for the university with the dream of sitting on a Supreme Count bench somewhere.
