The necklace一、教学目标与要求本单元的教学重点是继续学习疑问句的直接引语和间接引语。通过对课文的学习,使学生对其思想内涵有更深刻的了解。要求学生不仅能复述课文大意,还能分角色将全剧或部分表演下来。在表演中,充实对剧中人物的理解和认识,提高自己的表达水平。二、教学重点与难点1. 重点词汇scene;recognize;accept;continue;worth;match;after all;call on;notany more;day and night;pay back;at the most2. 重要句型 1) I dont know if I should tell you. 2) It was all because of your neck-lace. 3) I was the only person in my office who was invited. 4) On our way home that night I looked down and saw that the necklace was not around my neck any more.3. 语法直接引语和间接引语(3): 1) He asked her if she was pleased. 2) She asked him how many people were going to the ball.4. 日常交际用语 寻物(Lost and found):1)Excuse me. Ive lost a case. I wonder if its been found. 2) Can you describe the case to me. 3)Where did you last have it? 4) We asked everyone there if they had found,but without luck. 5)We couldnt find it;it was lost. 谈论过去经历(Talking about the past experiences): 1) Where have you been all these years? 2) What happened? 3) We did have a good time三、课型(注)(一)剧情理解课(). 教具 录音机,投影仪。. 课堂教学设计1. 检查生词及短语。2. 教师通过以下步骤导入本课:向学生提出下列问题: Im sure yon all know the story entitled“ The necklace”. Now read the play fast and find out how many people there are in the play and who they are.数分钟后继续提问: Yes,yon are right. There are three main characters in the play. Now please find out the relationship between the three people.放录音一遍,请学生回答上述问题,教师予以必要订正。3. 根据本课内容,教师再提出一些问题,检查学生的理解程度。1)When did the story happen? 2) Why do you think Jeanne could not recognize her old friend Mathilde while Mathilde easily recognized her? 3) What made Jeanne think that Mathilde was ill?4)When Mathilde mentioned the necklace,why do you think Jeanne was very much surprised? 5) Why did Pierre say it was wonderful news that they were invited to the ball at the palace? 6) When Pierre said that he was the only person in his office to be invited. what kind of feeling did he have?7) Why didnt Mathilde want to wear a flower for the ball?8)What decision did they make finally?同学们可以讨论以上题目,有些题目不一定答案唯一。教师鼓励大家用所学英语,发表自己的看法。4. 再放录音,学生跟读。将学生分为三人一组,分角色练习本剧的上半部分。5. 讨论题(用投影仪打出): Why do you think Pierre and his wife considered the ball very important? But on their way home,Mathilde found her necklace was missing. Both of them were very worried. They rushed back and looked for It. But they couldnt find It. The next day they borrowed a lot of money to buy a diamond necklace and returned it to Jeanne. During the next ten years they worked very hard in order to pay back the money. After Jeanne had heard all this,she couldnt help telling Mathilde that the necklace wasnt a real diamond necklace. She would go and see her on Friday.约十分钟后,请几位同学朗读自己的短文,教师予以讲评。4. 布置作业 1)预习第19单元;2)完成练习册中安排的练习。四、难句分析1. ,but I dont think I know you. ,但是,我想我不认识你。But I dont think we can go. 但是我想我们去不成。这两句话的英语表达方式和汉语不同。汉语主句中的动词“想”用肯定式,而宾语从句中的动词用否定式。英语则相反,表现为否定的前移,即主句动词(通常是think,suppose等)用否定式,而宾语从句中的动词用肯定式。又如:I dont think I can get away. 我想我走不了。I dont think we need waste much time on this. 我想我们不必在这个问题上浪费那么多时间。I didnt think wed be this late. 我想我们不会这么晚才到。I dont suppose I shall be back until 10 P. m. 我想十点以前我回不来。2. Thats because of hard workten years of hard work. 那是劳累的原故十年的劳累呀!介词词组“because of”作“因为”解,后跟名词构成介词短语,作表语或状语。例如:She looks very sad. Thats because of the bad newsthe news of her mothers death. 她看上去很忧伤,那是因为那个坏消息的缘故她的母亲去世了。They didnt start because of the snow. 因为下雪,所以他们没有出发。The patient cried because of the pain in the leg. 那位病人因为腿部疼痛而喊叫起来。“because”和“because of”意义相同,但“because”是连词,引导状语从句。例如:They didnt start because it snowed. 因为下雪,他们没有出发。3. Have times been hard for you?这些年近况不太好吧?句中的“times(复数)”作“境况”、“日子”、“时代”解,常用来表示生活情况或生活环境。例如:All of them had hard times during the war. 战争期间他们的日子都很难过。Times have been good since 1978. 从1978年以来生活就好过多了。The times are different;but he still has some old ideas. 时代不同了,而他还有一些旧的观念。4. But,just this once. After all,this ball is very important. 不过,就只这么一次。这次舞会毕竟很重要啊。“after all”作“毕竟终究到底”解,含有“要知道”、“别忘记”的含义,用来说服或提醒对方,引出对方似乎忘记了的某个重要的论点或理由,表示这层含义时,“after all”通常要放在句首。课文的句子就有这层含义。例如:Of course he was not polite. After all,he is your only son. 当然了,他很不礼貌。但他毕竟是你唯一的儿子啊。Its not surprising youre tired. After all, you were up until eleven last night!难怪你感到疲倦。别忘了,你昨天晚上11点才睡。“after all”也可以放在句子的末尾,这时有“虽然但毕竟”的含义,表示和预期的情况相反,说话人的意思转折。例如:They met with difficulties,but I hear that theyve succeeded after all. 他们遇到了困难,但我听说他们终究还是成功了。She said she wouldnt go to the ball, but she went there after all. 她说她不会去参加舞会,但她终归还是去了。5. So I called on you于是我去拜访你“call on sb. =visit sb. ”看望访问某人。例如:Lets go and call on the pop star. 咱们去看望那位歌星吧。They called on their teachers on Teachers Day. 教师节那天他们去看望老师了。注意:如果说“访问某地”时,则要用“call at”。例如:Ill call at your house tomorrow morning.
