Shes my hero because shes one of the best players in the world. 她是我心目中的英雄,因为她是世界上最好的运动员之一。 基本用法 这是because引导的原因状语从句,表示直接的原因,但because不能与so连用。 I was ill, so I had to stay at home. Because I was ill, I had to stay at home. 我生病了,所以我不得不待在家里。知识拓展-词义辨析:as/because/for/since 这四个词都可以用作连词,表“原因、理由”但有区别: 1. as:因为;既然,表示的原因或理由是明显的。语意不如because强。当理由是明显的,或者被认为 是已知的时,则以用as 为好。如: As he was not well, I decided to go without him. 因为他身体不好,我决定独自去了。 As it was getting very late, we soon turned back. 因为已很晚了,我们很快就回来了。 2. because:因为,表直接而明确的原因或理由,即必然的困果关系。在这几个词中,它的语意最强。 回答以why 引导的特殊疑问句时,只能用because。注意:because 不可以与so 连用。如: He had to stay at home yesterday because he was ill. 昨天他只得呆在家里,因为他病了。 3. since“既然”比as 较为正式,说明为人所知的原因。语气比because 稍弱。 Since light travels faster than sound, we see lightening before we hear the thunder. 因为光比声音传播得快,所以我们先看到闪电,后听到雷声。 4. for “因为”表原因或理由时,用以说明理由,只是解释性的。在这几个词中,它的语意最弱。它 少用于口语中,也不用于句首。如: I asked her to stay to tea, for I had something to tell her. 我请她留下来喝茶,因为我有事要告诉她。 注:这几个词按语意的强弱来排,其顺序为:becausesinceasfor She trained hard, so she became a great player later. 她训练很刻苦,所以后来她成了一名了不起的运动员。 基本用法这是so连接的并列句,句子之间是因果关系,通常可以与because引导的原因状语从句转换。如: Because he was tired, he went to bed.=He was tired, so he went to bed. 因为他累了,所以他上床睡觉了。 Whatever she does, she never gives up! 她无论做什么,都不放弃! 基本用法 本句中whatever意为“无论什么”,引导让步状语从句,相当于no matter what。如: Whatever happens, Ill take your side.无论发生什么事情我都会支持你。Dont change your plans, whatever happens. 无论发生什么事,都不要改变你的计划。知识拓展-相关单词 类似于whatever的让步状语从句的引导词还有: 1.however=no matter how 无论怎样. What else would you like? 你还要别的东西吗? 2. but 都是转折连词,句子之间是转折关系。 He is young, but he knows a lot. 虽然他很小,但是他懂得很多。 Norman Bethune is one of the most famous heroes in China. 诺尔曼白求恩是中国最有名的英雄之一。 基本用法 这是最高级中的常用句型之一,表示:最.之一,用one of +最高级+名词复数。 Yellow River is one of the longest rivers in the world. 黄河是世界上最长的河之一。She is one of the cleverest girls in class.她是班上最聪明的女生之一。 He invented special medical tools to use outside hospitals and close to the fighting areas so that doctors could treat the wounded more quickly. 他发明了特殊的医疗工具用于户外医院,并靠近阵地以便医生能够更快地给伤员治疗。 基本用法 1. 本句是so that引导的目的状语从句。so that意为“以便;为了”,相当于in order that。从句中多有 can, will, may, could, should等情态动词。目的状语从句通常置于主句之后。如: Speak clearly so that they may understand you. 说清楚,以便他们可以听懂。 They left early so that they could arrive on time. 他们早早动身,以便能暗示到达。 2. close to 意为“接近;靠近”。如: He lived close to the station. 他住在车站附近。 Dr Bethune often worked very hard without resting or taking care of himself. 白求恩大夫经常工作很努力,不休息也不照顾自己。 基本用法 1. with/without/by/about等介词后加动词时,动词需变成动名词形式。What about going shopping with me?跟我逛街怎么样?She often goes out without closing the window.她经常不关窗户就出去。 They left without saying goodbye.他们没有告辞就走了。 文中具有相似用法的句子有: he even worked for 69 hours without stopping. .他甚至没有间断地连续工作了69个小时.。 2. 本句中without为否定意义的单词,后用or表示“和”。 He has no brothers or sisters.他没有弟弟妹妹。 he even worked for 69 hours without stopping and managed to save 115 lives. .他甚至没有间断地连续工作了69个小时,设法拯救了115条生命。 基本用法 1. for+一段时间,表示动作连续持续了一段时间。通常和延续性动词连用,多用于现在完成时态。如: I have taught in this school for 20 years. 我在这所学校已经工作了20年。 2. save ones life意为“拯救某人的生命”,lives是life的复数形式。如: The dog saved the boys life. 那条狗拯救了男孩的生命。 The doctor came in time to save her life. 医生及时赶到救了她一命。 However, he looks so different that they fail to recognize him. 尽管如此,他看起来很不一样,人们都没有认出他来。 基本用法 1. so.that引导结果状语从句,so +adj / adv + that +句子意思是“如此以致于”。 如: He ran so fast that his brothercouldntcatch up with him. 他跑得太快了,她的弟弟追不上他。 引导结果状语的引导词,除 “so.that”之外,还有“such.that, so 等。 so that 与such that的用法区别: so + 形容词或副词 + that + 从句 such + 形容词+a(an) + 单数可数名词 + that +从句,但是这两种句型往往可以互换。 My grandfather is so kind that everyone likes talking with him. (= My grandfather is such a kind person that everyone likes talking with him.) 我爷爷心地善良,大家都喜欢和他聊天。 It is so cold that I have to wear warm clothes. (= It is such cold weather that I have to wear warm clothes.) 天气如此的冷,以至于我不得不穿上暖和的衣服。2. fail to do sth.意为“未能做某事;做某事失败了”。如: She fails to go there every day.她未能每天都去那里。 He is happy to be back home again after so many adventures. 他很高兴经历如此多的冒险后又回到了家乡。 基本用法 be happy to do sth.意为“很高兴做某事”,be+adj.+to do sth.意为“做某事”,这里的形容词可 以由pleased, glad, sorry等词替换。如:I will be happy to do it for you. 我乐意为你效劳。She is so excited to hear that her husband is coming back.听到丈夫要回来,她很激动。 In 1851, she was trained as a nurse. 1851年,她受训成为一名护士。 基本用法 这句话中be trained as 意为“接受的训练”。如: He was trained as an engineer. 他受过担任工程师的培训。知识拓展-相关句型/结构 be trained to be 意为“被培养成”。如: The dogs are trained to be aggressive. 这些狗被训练得具有攻击性。 Florence Nightingale worked hard to make the hospital clean and save soldiers lives. 弗洛伦丝南丁格尔艰苦地工作使得医院变得干净,拯救战士的生命。 基本用法 这句话中to make the hospital clean and save soldierss lives作目的状语。 1. make + n.+adj.意为“使”。如: We must make th
