But it was incomplete (不完整的), so it could only roll (滚动) very slowly. It enjoyed the flowers and the sunshine along the way. It talked with worms. It found lots of different pieces, but none of them fit. So it left them all by the side of the road and kept on looking for the missing piece. Then one day the circle found a piece that fit perfectly. The circle put the missing piece into itself. It could be whole with nothing missing. It was so happy and began to roll. Now that (既然) it was a perfect (完美的) circle, it could roll very fast, too fast to see flowers or talk to worms. It realized how different the world was when it rolled so quickly. It felt so sad that it stopped, left its found piece by the side of the road and rolled away slowly.Sometimes we are perfect when we lose something. A man who has everything is a poor man in some ways. He will never have hopes, dreams or something better. He will never know someone loves him or someone is giving him something he has always wanted or never had.We couldnt be perfect, but we must be brave enough to love, strong enough to forgive, kind enough to share happiness with others and clever enough to know there is enough love around us and then we can always live a wonderful life.26 . You know that thrill(兴奋 )you get when listening to your favorite music? That exciting feeling when you hear your favorite songs?According to a recent study,it seems the same thing can happen while you are reading, but not with every kind of text. This opens up interesting questions around how music, reading and emotions are connected in the brain. The study“ We decided we would do a comparison between four or five different kinds of texts to see how the brain reacted,”explains Adam Zeman,a scientist. “ The participants (参与者 )lay in an MRI scanner reading the texts, and then we compared brain activity for those five texts.”The texts ranged (涉及 )from deadly boring ones to highly exciting ones, including the Highway Code, parts from novels, and poems. So what happened in the participants brains while they were reading?Emotional reactionAs the researchers observed, participants found some texts more emotional than others. When reading these emotional texts, there was higher activity in brain areas related to pleasure and rewardthe same areas related to the thrill we get when we listen to music. As Zeman says,“ it perfectly shows that the emotional reaction to literature(文学 )and to music has quite a bit in common. So it doesnt seem to matter whether you are listening or reading if you get a thrill. That was one quite strong finding.”Introspection(内省 )There were more interesting findings. Reading poetry is often considered an activity that requires us to use the brain, but did the study find any truth of this? When the participants were reading poems, the team found there was more activity in a particular group of brain areas called the Default Network. “ These areas seem to be related to things we do with our minds when we are resting, like thinking about whats happened to us recently, thinking about whats going to happen in the near future, about other people, and that network seems to be more strongly related to poetry than with other texts,”explains Zeman. This connection between poetry and introspection could be the subject of further research.ConclusionsThe study shows that the different texts activate different areas of our brains when we read. Zeman says,“ the study did support what we thought:reaction to literature was going to be a bit like the one to music in terms of emotion. We felt that we ended up with a great deal of unanswered questions which we hope somebody will continue to ask.”31 . What did the research try to find out?AHow music helps us read different kinds of texts.BWhat kind of texts most people like while listening to music.CWhy reading different texts causes different reactions in emotion.DWhether reading can cause similar emotional reaction like music does.32 . What did the participants do in the study?AThey listened to music.BThey read different texts.CThey answered many questions.DThey compared brain activities.33 . What can we learn from the study?AThe emotional texts work better for the research.BPoetry reading can activate the Default Network.CMusic helps to bring pleasure and reward.DPeople think about the past when resting.Florida Hotel Swimming PoolOPENING HOUR:MondaySaturday08:0022:00Sunday09:0017:00No divingNo runningNo eating or drinking in the poolUse the steps to go into the poolChildren should be with an adult at all timesRespect the lifeguard at all times34 . Usually it takes a long time, perhaps half a day, for passengers to stay in the plane. So airlines (航空公司) offer passengers food. But it is common that they feel bad about food taste. Do you agree? To solve this problem, airlines try hard to improve their food. They would like to do so because they dont want to lose customers. However, according to scientific research, part of the reason why plane food tastes bad is that at high altitude we can not taste things as well as we do on the ground. Also scientists have found that our noses become very dry even before a plane takes off. As the plane moves up, the change in air pressure(压力) reduces one third of the sensibility(感觉) of our taste buds(味蕾). So our taste buds become senseless. The sad fact, however, is that our noses dont know it.All of these help explain why food on the plane tastes so bad. They also help explain why airlines choose to offer passengers salty and spicy (辛辣的) food. Without doing so, the food would be tasteless. Now there are many researches on this. According to one of them, some volunteers are asked to lie with their feet higher than their heads for weeks. And scientists write down their feelings about food taste.Though scientists try their best, it is not as easy as they thought. Because they cant deal with the special environment successfully, such as the change in air pressure, making food taste good is still hard for them.40 .
