The Results section 解 螺 旋|陪 伴 医 生 科 研 成 长 英语科研写作 Results To provide a straightforward account of your findings. Dont describe Methods in detail in the Results section. But: A reminder of the method is helpful: “Western blotting revealed that protein levels were higher in A cells than in B cells.” Dont interpret findings in depth in the Results section. But: Briefly summarizing the finding is helpful: “These results suggested that Abc promoted metastasis of adenocarcinoma cells.” 解 螺 旋|陪 伴 医 生 科 研 成 长 英语科研写作 Results One by one, describe the findings for each experiment or analysis. Used to describe established fact: “DNA has a double-helix structure.” Used to describe general conclusions: “We conclude that the side effect profile of this new drug is superior to that of the other drug.” Results里不应出现 established facts / general conclusions. Experiments were repeated three times and repeatability was calculated for intra-chip and inter- chip experiments. The averaged coefficient of variations for inter-chip and intra-chip experiments remained low (less than 15%), suggesting a favorable repeatability of the DNA microarray detection method (Table 3). Transwell migration assay showed that, in both cases of TE-5 and TE-9, migration ofsiPTK7 cells was significantly reduced by 60% or more compared with siControl (p 0.01) (Fig. 4), suggesting a promoting role of PTK7 in esophageal squamous carcinoma invasion. Interestingly, E- cadherin level was upregulated in siPTK7 cells (Fig. 4, Western blots), further suggesting PTK7 may promote cell migration through down- regulating epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT)-related pathways (see Discussion).
