Talk together 1) Have the children stand in a circle and hold up their family pictures.2) Have each child say his or her English name. (Make sure each Child knows the English name of the child on either side. Encourage them to ask. “Whats yours name? if they do not know.)3) Have each child introduce the neighboring child to the class using the structures Hes/Shes (Jane). Thats his/her family. Make sure thepronouns he/she and his/her are correct. 4) Have the children put their pictures in a pile in the center of the circle.5) Explain to the children that you will pick up the pictures one at a time, and that you want them to say “Thats his/her family.” when you hold up their drawing.6) Continue until you have returned all the pictures.8) Have the children open their books and point to the picture at the top of the page.9) Ask the children who is holding the picture of his family.10) Display your copy of the page. Elicit the characters names: Ken, Ann, Tommy. Make sure the children know that picture is of Ken family and Anns family because Ann is Kens sister.2. Play the tape of the first three words. Have the children point with their pencils to the first letter of each word as they hear it.
