Using the cards, say words and sentences.2. Say and do: (S1: do. S2: Is he sleeping? S3: No, hes not. Hes working.)Step 2 PresentationPractice 1Getting ready Point to each pictures and ask questions that require Ss to answer with the target language pattern. T: ( Point to Tony in picture A. ) Is he sleeping?Ss: No, hes not. He working. T: ( Point to Jenny in picture B. ) Is she painting?Ss: No, shes not. Shes coloring. Continue with the rest.Using the book T: Lets listen to the tape. Play the tape for A, then pause. T: Whats Tony doing?Ss: Hes thinking.Have Ss look for the sentences Hes thinking. On the page. T: Write A in the box. Continue with the rest.Practice 2Getting ready Have Ss look at the sentences on the page. T: A. Repeat. Whats he doing?Ss: Whats he doing? Do the same for the other three sentences.Using the book T: Now look at the A. Whats he doing? If Ss are having difficulty coming up with the answer, give some clues by asking some yes/no questions, e.g. Is he exercising? Is he eating? ( S1: Hes practicing basketball.) Put Ss in pairs to practice asking and answering the four questions.Chant activityGetting ready Have Ss look at the lyrics. Read each line again and have Ss repeat.Using the book T: Lets chant! Lets listen first. Play the tape and point to each word as it is chanted. Play the tape again and have all Ss chant together. Divide Ss into two groups. Group 1 chants the question and Group 2 chants the answers. Then switch.Look and writeGetting ready Have Ss look at the pictures the page. T: ( Point to the two boys.) What are they doing?Ss: Theyre playing. T: ( Point to another picture.) Whats ( she ) doing?Ss: Shes singing. Go over each picture as above.Using the book Point to the blanks on the page. T: Write new sentences to make your own chant. Give Ss time to fill in the blanks. Walk around the classroom to help Ss if needed. Ask Ss to read their new sentences.Have some Ss share their new chants. To fit the new lyrics to the music, tell Ss to repeat the last word, e.g. Wer
