2、能力,激活学生的英语思维,保持英语的学习热情,使精心设定的Moral Goal 的完成能水到渠成。例如,提高用英语获取信息、处理信息、分析和解决问题的能力,发展学生与人沟通和合作的能力;激发学生对事物深入了解的探究心理,逐步养成研究性学习意识; 通过自主学习和社会调查,和与发展国家在科技方面的比较,了解社会,增强社会责任感((Social Responsibility),强化祖国意识(National Awareness),培养全球观念(Global Sense)。话题拓展 (Extended Topics)以Technology为主题,由中心话题衍生出六个Sub Topics, 分别是New
3、 Uses of Things, Problems and Solutions, Life in a Technological Era, Teaching & Living Facilities of the School, Controversy about Technology 和Attitude towards Technology。 根据每一个Sub Topic精心设计相应的任务,突出交际功能,通过完成任务使学生达到交流的目的,完成语言的运用,能力要求涵盖听、说、读、写及综合运用,人文因素涉及学生的情感态度、学习策略、文化意识、价值取向和评判标准。2. In this shrine of opulence, deferenceto ones customer requires that a shopkeeper should not appear to talk ofprice (a murmur reached her), nor treat his goods as merchandise (Hewould be willing . . . to keep
10、 it . . . for ever), nor should he appear to shutthe door on his customer. The adjective discreet (which, notice, is applied tothe door rather than to the man) strengthens this inference from the click.2345 The discreet door shut with a bang.contradictory6 She rushed from the shop, hat in hand.not p

Original sentence seems to suggest the door shut of its own accord11 The door discreetly shut with

By changing the adjective discreet into an adverb, this would have lost some of the force of the original, which attributes the behavioural quality of discretion metonymically to the door, an inanimate object which cannot, in literal actuality, possess it. The author makes it seem as if in
13、this euphe-mistic world, tradesmen, dealers men of the flesh have refined themselves out of existence, and have imparted their qualities to the shop itself12 With a click the discreet door shut.13 The discreet door clicked shut.In 12, the adverbial with a click is placed before the rest of the sente
14、nce, perversely making us aware of the click before the shutting which caused it. In 13, the change of syntactic form, although it makes the sentence more concise, has phonological consequences which appear to be undesirable. 14 The discreet door shut with a click. 15 With a click, the discreet door
15、 shut. 14,15 would have made the click seem a matter of importance and surprise in its own right, dividing the readers attention between the two events, instead of making him see them as integral parts of a whole. 【Graphological and phonological significance】2.
