2、r she had, she is most remembered and loved as the People sprincess because of her heart for people, her contributions to charity works, and her efforts to make a difference. If leadership is about the ability to influence people, I argue that a heart for people is the foundation for leadership infl

3、uence. Princess Diana is one example. She used to be a shy kindergarten teacher and became a royal leader by marriage; through all her personal life turmoil and sufferings, Diana developed her strengths, confidence, and public communication skills, and most importantly she developed a loving heart f

4、or other people in need. She was this woman who failed in seeking love from her marriage, but seek ways to love others, in particular, the sick and the suffering.As Diana said, “Ithink the biggest disease this world suffers from in this day and age is the disease of people feeling unloved, and I kno

5、w that I can give love for a minute, for half an hour, for a day, for a month, but I can give. I amvery happy to do that and I want to dothat.With” this love in her heart, Dianastarted her mission and became a tireless charity worker both at home and abroad. Diana used to be associated with more tha

6、n one hundred and fifty charities, and she was patron or president of more than ninety. She mademanyvisitstoNorthAmerica,visitinghospices,schools,charitiesandfundraising galas, and had touched lives of many wherever she went. OthermajoroverseasvisitsincludedAngola,Australia,Bosnia,Egypt,India,Pakist

7、an, and manyEuropeancountries. ThePrincess spoke out ona widerange of issues and used her high profile to raise awareness as well as fundsfor charities. Diana said, “ Beingconstantly in the public eye gives me a special responsibility particularly that of using the impact of photographs to transmita

8、 message, to sensitize the world to an important cause ”.The many photographs Diana left behind revealed her genuine heart for people as wellas her influence to the world as a humanitarian leader. Diana is remembered by everyone she met for her warmth and genuine interest in their situation anddiffi

9、culties. She threw herself into charity works in a very personal way, spending countless hours listening to the individual stories and problems of people she visited. She had the ability to make everybody feel special, caredand loved, in particular those vulnerable people who were touched by her war

10、mth and affection. Diana described her work with the Royal BromptonHospital, London, like this: 'I make the trips at least three times a week, and spend up to four hours at a time with patients holding their hands and talking to them. Some of them will live and some will die, but they all need t

11、o be lovedwhile they are here. I try to be there for them. In February 1992 When thePrincess visitedMother Teresa'sHospice for the Sick and Dying in Kolkata,India, she visited every one ofthe 50 patients who were closeto death.Through her good works, Diana has touchedpeople shearts both high and

13、 for Aids awareness on the planet and no one can fill her shoes interms of the workshe did". Inher lastyear,Dianabecamean activecampaigner for the ban of manufacturing and using land mines. Her famouswalks at a mine field in Angola and pictures of her with amputees had hugeimpact to the world,

14、and raised much attention to this unfashionable issue. Diana sgoal became reality 4 months after her death, when 122 governments signed the Mine Ban Treaty. Since then, two thirds of all countries have pledged to abide by the ban. Her trip to Angola was one of the highlights in her mission. It also

15、made a difference to a little girl in Angola. On one of her trip toa rundown clinic, Diana visited a little girl who stepped on a mine when she went to fetch water. The little girl was in terrible condition. After Diana spending some time with her and left, the little girl asked who Diana was. Peopl

16、e told her Diana was a princess from England. The little girl said, Is she an angel? The little girl died a few hours later, the last thing she saw was this beautiful lady that she thought was an angel.I can relate myself to Princess Diana, because I also want to be a princess one day.
