Brought up in a small parsonage close to the graveyard of a bleak, windswept village on the Yorkshire moors, and left motherless in early childhood, she was “the motherly friend and guardian of her younger sisters

After various efforts as schoolmistresses and governesses, the sisters took to literature and published a vol. of poems under the names of Currer, Ellis, and Acton Bell, which, however, fell flat. Charlotte then wrote her fir

It was followed by Shirley in 1849, and Villette in 1852. In 1854 she was married to her fathers curate, the Rev. A. Nicholls, but after a short though happy

In the early years of the Victorian Age in 19th century, it is a male-dominated and “money above all” society, and people regarded women as seco

In Janes times, people always judge a person based on social status, wealth and physical beauty. Unfortunately, Jane is not o

She owned neither wealth nor physical beauty, which are regarded as symbols of a womens social position in her times. However, Jane was brought up in severe circumstances. In Janes long way of life, she dares to challenge traditional opinions and repression. Janes intellective mind and independent personality win other peoples respects for her. Her unbowed s

One day, when her John beaten her again, she broke out and beat back, then this is the initial formation of Janes independent personality and it reflect her inner beauty of promote justice.1.1 The

15、 When John lifts the book to hit her, she really cannot bear bad-treatment anymore and change her tolerance into rebellious feelings. She points to John, claims that he is wicked and cruel boy, and is like the evil rulers of ancient Rome. Why have I alluded to this man? I have alluded to him, Reader

His wit is bright, his humour attractive, but both bear the same relation to his serious genius that the mere lambent sheet-lightning playing under the edge of the summer-cloud does to the electric death-spark hid in its womb. While locked in it, Jane believes that she sees her uncles ghost, then Jane creams and faints, the fear that children of this age can

It is the symbol of the initial formation of Janes independent personality.1.2 Janes beautys initial incarnate When Jane awakes to find her in the care of Bessie who is a servant in Gates heed and she is the

I will never come to see you when I am grown up; and if anyone asks me how I liked you, and how you treated me, I will say the very thought of you makes me sick, and that you

Therefore, she lived under Mrs. Reeds roof, at Gateshead. She lived an unhappy life with her wealthy, cruel cousin

Most people at Gateshead disliked her, including the servants. Even one of the servants thought that she was less than a

From Chapter1to Chapter 4 the author described that 14-year-old John maltreated Jane without any excuses. Even though Mrs Reed was partial to John, little Jane was n

John said that Jane had no business to take his books; “You have no business to take our books; you are a dependant, mama says, you have no

Jane fought against him severely this time. John was bleeding. She said John was a

As soon as Mrs. Reed heard the news, Jane was sent to the “Red Room”.2 The independent personality and beauty of Jane Eyre If we will say the first time Jane Eyre broke out in her aunts home is the born of her independent

In the “Red Room”, she was frightened, but she kept a clear mind that she realized she needed to be saved from her blind fear of authority and be self-

But she had only turned against him to avert farther irrational violence, she was loaded with general opprobrium. In Reeds family, “all John Reeds violent tyrannies, all his sisters parti

It is as natural as that I should love those who show me a
