2、reciate;2、 use adjectives to describe characteristics of people; e.g.: serious, strict, patient, amusing, energetic, etc.;3、 use reading skills e.g.: skimming and scanning to find main idea and key information; 4、 develop individual study and team spirit via individual and team work gradually; 5、 kn
3、ow new teachers better, and improve the relationship between students and teachers;Teaching contents: (reading and vocabulary)Key points: reading skills training, describing characters,some new words:scientific,joke,etc. Difficult words,literature, appreciate.Teaching aids: multi-mediaType of the le
4、sson: reading and speakingTeaching procedures: Step 1 Revision (3mins)a) Students listen and use the words (almost adjectives) learnt last time to describe each of 3 persons on the screen.b) Teacher leads in, listen, comments, explains and gives helps to students if they need.Purpose: students can r
5、eview the words leant last time, and arouse their interests about teachersStep2 Pre-reading (5mins)a) Students look at the screen, listen to the teacher and understand the new wordsb) Teacher explains the new words in a created condition.Purpose: students can go through the next step easily.(step1 a
6、nd step2 can be combined together!)Step 3 While-reading (15mins)a) Students read passage quickly (ten seconds) and find out the main idea of this passage.b) Students look at the question on screen and then read the whole passage quickly and find the answer (2mins)c) Students answer the question toge
7、ther and then listen to the tape carefully and finish the first part of the chart. d) Students then read the rest of the passage silently, and finish the chart by themselves. (5mins)e) Pair work: two students check each others answer.(2mins)f) Teacher shows pictures and questions, controls the time,
8、 plays the tape, gives correct answers, and gives helps to students if they need.Purpose: students can review the words they learnt; develop reading skills, e.g. skimming and scanning; and ability of individual study.Step 4 Post-reading (22mins)Activity 1、 Play a guessing game.(7mins)a) Students lis
9、ten to an example used to describe a person which we are familiar with by the teacher.b) Students guess the person and follow the example to prepare the game.c) A student describes a person, and the others guess. (repeated)d) Teacher gives an example to play the game, listen and comments.Purpose: st
10、udents can use the adjectives to describe a person.Activity 2、 Investigation (15mins)a) Students investigate this question “what kind of person do you want to be in the future?” in a group with 4 people, and finish the chart.(8mins)b) One student in each group to be a reporter.c) Teacher listens, co
11、ntrols the time and class, comments.Purpose: students can find a goal to proceed, and then get a motivation to do that; develop their team spirit.Homework:1、Write a short passage to introduce your English teacher, e.g.: characteristics, your impressions and so on. Generally speaking, write about me.
