1、Research on Cheating in examAbstract: Our research do the survey about cheating in exams.To finish this research we take some social investigation,including some research in peer group students and investigates in the Internet.But later we found that the investigates we do in class are not professio

2、nal,so we decided to sue the investigates from Internet. Our group do a questionnaire survey and send it to the Internet.We thing if we use the questionnaire survey from internet,more people could do it and we could gain more useful information from different college students,different level's s

3、tudents and the conclusion we make finally could be more correct and common.Through this questionnaire survey we ask sixty nine people in total which include forty-three boys and twenty-six girls. In this questionnaire, we asked seven questions about cheating in exam.And for the question there are t

4、he feeling during cheating process,how often students cheating in exam and what level students belong often cheating and so on.And through this questionnaire survey we get the conclusion. We think the conclusion we get is unusual from common so it can be useful for teachers know students more effect

5、ively and may could found a effective way to handle this big problem to society.Key words:college,cheat,reason1 Introduction In today's college campus, cheating on exams has become a relatively common phenomenon and it is amazing that there are various cheating measures and so many people involv

6、ing in it. Cheaters are not only confined to those students who have poor performance and get low marks, but among the students who are punished because of cheating on exams, many are the students with excellent credits. In order to know and grasp the status of the students' cheating, find the r

7、eal reasons and motives, we distributed 69 questionnaires. We make a survey about the objective performance ,cognitive attitude and main reason of college students' cheating. And whats more, the results may provide scientific basis for the university scholars and educators to mend the cheating p

8、henomenon. Our thesis contains Abstract Key, Words Introduction, Literature Review, Research Methodology, Data Analysis, Conclusion and Reference.2 Literature ReviewAs for internal relevant research, The article The Analysis of Cheating in the Examination(Xu Yanming and Bi Peng,2010) reads that chea

9、ting on exams phenomenon has a long history. Although for many years, cheating and against cheating had never terminated, but it seems the situation became worse. Cheating on exams, which had not been curbed, but growing, spreading, the way of cheating has become more and more advanced. Cheating on

10、exams, working life, fraud of production and operation, in or out of the campus, all kinds of cheating fulfilled our society life, which have influenced the international image and competitive of our country. Cheating as a fraud behavior, the reasons are pressures, opportunity and pretext. Deal with

11、 these three reasons, we must establish the appropriate control measures, in order to restrain and decrease the behavior of fraud happen. Another article The influence of professional ethical beliefs on academic dishonest with the theory of planned behavior(Chun-Hua and Yang, Chyan,2009) reads that

12、in order to exam the influential factors of cheating intention, they adopted the theory of planned behavior (TPB) by adding professional unethical beliefs to enhance its predictive power. A self-administered survey of 280 business part-time students with full-time profession from a northern universi

13、ty in Taiwan was investigated. Results indicated that perceived behavioral control toward cheating and professional ethical beliefs have greater impact on cheating intention than subjective norm and attitude have.As to external relevant research, there is a tendency of a greater intention to cheat i

14、n the future at posttest as well as an increase in cheating behavior. And among the interviewees, a large majority admitted cheating and indicated that they had never been caught.(Edward J. Vinski;Georgiana Shick Tryon ,2007). Several recent studies indicate that cheating has become both more preval

15、ent and more socially acceptable. Attempts to curtail cheating by further policing students may only exacerbate the problem in the long run. The same contextual factors that help mitigate undesirable market behavior, when cultivated in the classroom, can help to curb student cheating.(Colleen Vojak

16、,2010).3 Research Methodology Primarily, we work out the online questionnaire about college students' cheating frequency, reasons, feelings and attitude towards it. Secondly, we apply statistical method to make the figure and do documentary research. Ultimately, we come to the conclusion in maki

17、ng comparison between internal and external college students. 4 Data AnalysisIn order to gain more objective data, we sent off the questionnaires in the Internet and received 69 questionnaires which contained 26 for girls and 43 for boys. Our questionnaire contained 7 questions.The first question is

18、 about the interview's gender.And the second question is "How often do you cheat in examinations? A.Always B. Sometimes C.Never". As for boys, 4.65% of them whose grade is on the level of medium choose A. 55.81% of them choose B. And 64.71% of them are on the level of medium grade in c

19、ollege and 17.64% of them usually get high marks in exams.And the rest 17.65% of the boys are on the bottom of the grades. 39.54% of them choose C. As for girls, 3.8% of them choose A. And the grades of them is under the average. 50% of them choose B. Among them, 64.29% of them can get general marks

20、 in examinations and 21.42% of them are on the bottom level of the grades. And the rest is on the top of their classes. And 46.20% of them choose C, namely never cheat in the exam.And the third question is " The reason for cheating in exams: A. To get high grades B. To pass exams C. Help others

21、 cheat D. Proctor is not strict E. Feel unfair when seeing others cheating F. Cheat is my habit G. Others" In the group of boys, 57.89% choose B and 21.05% choose A. The proportion of A is the same goes for G. And 10.51% of them choose C. As for girls, 42.86% of them choose B and 28.57% of them

22、 choose C. 14.29% of them chooce A. 7.14% of them choose E and the same goes for G.And the forth question is "When you cheat in the exam, what's your feeling? A. Nervous B. Shameful C. Calm D. Depend on strict degree E. Others" As for boy, 36.84% of boys choose A and 26.32% of them cho

23、ose C. And the same proportion which respectively takes up 15.78% is for B and E. As for girls, 64.29% chooses A and 35.71% of them choose B.And the fifth question is " What's your attitude toward college students cheating phenomenon? A. Reasonable B. Never mind C. Firmly reject D. Others&q

24、uot; In the group of boys, 34.88% of them choose A, which is followed by C,taking up 32.56%. And 23.26% of them choose B and 9.3% of them choose D. As for girls, 38.50% of them choose C and 35% of them choose B, which is followed by option A, 23.2%. And 3.3% of them choose D. The sixth question is &

25、quot; What do you think can reduce the proportion of cheating? A. Increase the punishment B. Improving the examination methods ( such as paying more attention to peacetime achievements ) C. Rigorous invigilation D. Adjust the difficulty." 69.77% of the boys choose B and 23.26% chooses C. And 18

26、.60% of the boys choose A and 16.28% of them choose D. In the group of girls, 45% of them choose B and 27% choose A. 21% of them choose C and the rest choose D.The seventh question is " What will you do when you see others cheating? A. Help them cheat B. Want to report C. Tell the teacher D. Ig

27、nore" 86.04% of the boys choose ignore it and 11.63% of them choose B.While option C is zero and A is taking up 2.33%. As to girls, 84.60% choose D and 15.40% of them choose B.5 Conclusion Almost half of the students have cheated in the exam. The one third of the students are against it.More th

28、an half of the students think the system of exam should be changed. In fact,the exam is more concerned about something should be recited, which is rigid and easy and it has lost the function of testing the students' ability. In the meantime,it can't arise the interest in the study of student

29、s.On the other hand, since the exam is easy,students still want to cheat in the exam. It means that students spend a little time in studying.They don't think highly of the study in college. In a word, cheating phenomenon in the exam is concerned with both students and schools.In order to reduce the tendency of cheating in the exams, students should realize the importance of study.
