13、cane Watch Posted” warned the front page of The Daily Herald on Aug. 16, 1969. That was Saturday. Hurricane Camille struck Sunday night 40 years ago Monday with a vengeance猛烈地 few could fathom. For two decades the Storm King had tossed only mild zingers. When Mondays early-morning light revealed the

The combination of winds, surges, and rainfalls caused 256 deaths (143 on the Gulf Coast and 113 in the Virginia floods) and $1.421 billion in damage.
