4、 my current application for a Masters program in economics is to pursue a more fruitful career development in the future so that the process of my self-actualization will also be a process of making contributions to others. 5、My education consists of two stages. From 1993 to 1995 I received a junior college education from the Business School of _ University, majoring in marketing. Then I proceeded onto an undergraduate program in the Department of Business Administration of _ University, waived of entrance examination be
6、cause of my distinguished academic performance at the junior college (ranking top second among 31 students in the class). During my undergraduate program, I continue to maintain a satisfactory academic performance, ranking top ten among a total of 51 students. Completing my undergraduate program in
7、1998, I obtained a Bachelors degree in economics. Through my undergraduate program, I gained an increasingly deep understanding of the importance of economics. As far as I am concerned, economics is by no means an abstract discipline. It is closely connected with reality and is designed to explore a
8、nd explain diverse economic phenomena and economic laws. For the foreseeable future, the conflict between the scarcity of natural resources and the infinitude of human demand will continue to persist, posing a long-lasting threat to the social development of all nations. The necessity to seek a solu
9、tion to this conflict gave birth to Economics, which promises to maximize material wealth through an optimum allocation of resources. Because of my diligent efforts at coursework and my strong interest in economics, I managed to achieve a top-10 ranking in my class,winning the honor of Outstanding S
10、tudent and a second-class scholarship. I familiarized myself with most classic works on economics and management, including Principles of Management by Harold Koontz, Economics by Samuelson, Competition Strategy by Porter and Wealth of Nations by Adam Smiths, etc. From the very beginning of my econo
11、mics study, I have tried to expose myself to western perspectives. Starting from the premise that economics will be lifeless unless it is applied to the problems in the real world, I paid special attention in my undergraduate program to the combination of theory and practice as a way of learning and
12、 applying my knowledge of economics. I once spent a whole summer vacation on conducting a survey of the fast food business in _ City. I sampled 15 fast food restaurants, carried out interviews with restaurant owners and the customers. I applied quantitative analysis to my statistics and proposed con

While I was aware that the importance of any test score as an indicator of ones scholastic aptitudes should never be over-ex
17、aggerated, the result still gave me a tremendous sense of self-pride and self-achievement. I believe that I achieved such a high score not through mere coincidence. As I approached my studies primarily from a problem-oriented manner, devoting much more energy to labw

27、r and to make important research achievements. Even when I was a freshman, I started to work as a research assistant in the laboratory. Over the past four years, I have commanded most of the basic skills necessary for undertaking lab research, such as operations on animals, cell culture, electrophor
28、esis experiments, etc. By far, my most important research experience came from undertaking my graduation project, which exemplified an overall test of experimental techniques. I chose to focus on the Effect of Ye3 on the Cell Apoptosis. The reason for choosing this subject of research is that the st
29、udy of cell apoptosis has a crucial importance in the treatment of cancer and in maintaining the immunity of those suffering from AIDS. On the premise that rare earth ions are considered capable of entering cells, I decided that my project would concentrate on rare earth ions and their effects on ce
30、ll nucleus. With extensive experiments, I discovered that, under different circumstances, rare earth ions would produce totally different behavior toward cell apoptosis. When the concentration of rare earth ions is below a certain ultimate limit, the function of the ions changes from that of facilit
31、ating cell apoptosis to that of suppressing cell apoptosis. As an initial and tentative study, my research has won very positive comments from my advisor. In undertaking a large quantity of experiments, I not only applied basic operation skills with much dexterity but also acquired many new techniqu
32、es such as making post-coloring observation of the morphology of cell nucleus through the confocal fluorescence microscope, and performing qualitative testing of cell apoptosis with the help of flow cytometry method (FCM).
