11、iracles to change our beliefs, they materialize in the places wed least expect. They can come to us as a great change in our physical reality or as a simple coincidence in our lives. 13、January afternoon in 1989, I was hiking up the trail that leads to the top of Egypts Mt. Horeb. Id spent the day at St. Catherines Monastery and wanted to get to the peak by sunset to see the valley below. As I was winding up the narrow path, Id occasionally see other hikers who were coming down fro
14、m a day on the mountain. While they would generally pass with simply a nod or a greeting in another language, there was one man that day who did neither.I saw him coming from the last switchback on the trail that led to the backside of the mountain. As he got closer, I could see that he was dressed
15、differently from the other hikers Id seen. Rather than the high-tech fabrics and styles that had been the norm, this man was wearing traditional Egyptian clothing. He wore a tattered, rust-colored galabia and obviously old and thick-soled sandals that were covered in dust. What made his appearance s
16、o odd, though, was that the man didnt even appear to be Egyptian! He was a small-framed Asian man, had very little hair, and was wearing round, wire-rimmed glasses.As we neared one another, I was the first to speak, “Hello,” I said, stopping on the trail for a moment to catch my breath. Not a sound
17、came from the man as he walked closer. I thought that maybe he hadnt heard me or the wind had carried my voice away from him in another direction. Suddenly he stopped directly in front of me on the high side of the trail, looked up from the ground, and spoke a single sentence to me in English, “Some
18、times you dont know what you have lost until youve lost it.” As I took in what I had just heard, he simply stepped around me and continued his going down the trail.That moment in my life was a small miracle. The reason is less about what the man said and more about the timing and the context. The ye
19、ar was 1989, and the Cold War was drawing to a close. what the man on the trail couldnt have known is that it was during my Egyptian pilgrimage (朝圣), and specifically during my hike to the top of Mosess mountain, that Id set the time aside to make decisions that would affect my career in the defense
20、 industry, my friends, my family, and, ultimately, my life.I had to ask myself what the chances were of an Asian man dressed in an Egyptian galabia coming down from the top of this historic mountain just when I was walking up, stopping before me, and offering his wisdom, seemingly from out of nowher
21、e. My answer to my own question was easy: the odds were slim to none! In a meet that lasted less than two minutes on a mountain halfway around the world from my home, a total stranger had brought clarity and the hint of a warning, regarding the huge changes that I would make within a matter of days.
22、 In my way of thinking, thats a miracle.I suspect that we all experience small miracles in our lives every day. Sometimes we have the wisdom and the courage to recognize them for what they are In the moments when we dont, thats okay as well. It seems that our miracles have a way of coming back to us

And each time they do, they become a little less subtle, until we cant possibly miss the message that they bring to our lives!The key is that theyre everywhere and occur every day for different reasons, in response to the different needs that we may have in the moment. Out of all the nonfiction films r

From extraordinary directing to emotional acting, Sully is easily one of the best films of this year.Interestingly enough, although this film may have a few action scenes, it shouldnt be branded as an action movie. It is full-on intense drama, with two or th
52、ree jokes that are original and funny, but dont turn the film into a comedy. The story itself can also be considered an emotional and physical dramatic adventure that changes the lives of the characters forever.Sully begins when US Airways Flight 1549 lands in the water in the Hudson River after bot
53、h engines are destroyed by birds. Luckily, not one passenger is injured and this is due to the skill of both rescue teams and pilot Sully Sullenbrger (Tom Hanks) and First Officer Jeffrey Skiles (Aaron Eckhart). Unfortunately, the nightmare(噩梦) is not over. Even though all passengers are in safety,
54、it is still a major question if Sully should have landed the plane in the water and if he might have had enough speed and altitude to reach the runway at an actual airport.This is a very famous story that happened in 2009, but many people do not know what happened after the plane water landed. Sully
55、 truly shows all the events of this flight. Another amazing aspect of the film is the acting. Both Tom Hanks and Aaron Eckhart play the pilots wonderfully. Not only do the two look so much like the actual people, they also got their personalities right too. The two actors do well in the scenes where
56、 they keep imagining the crash, and it clearly affects them day after day, Clint Eastwood has directed many films, but Sully is certainly one of his best. The story does not feel like it lasts 96 minutes and I was surprised when it ended. Sully really does keep you on the edge of your seat using cin
57、ematographythe art of making films that makes you feel like you are a part of the movie, acting that is emotional and dramatic and even special effects that make it look very real. Something to note, the film was shot with IMAX cameras so seeing it in IMAX theatres gives you the best possible experi
58、ence.My favourite scene is the actual plane crash. From taking off, to the passengers getting into rescue boats, this scene keeps your heart beating very fast. I personally suffer from a fear of flying and it pumped me full of adrenaline (肾上腺素). I could not blink (眨眼) until I found out what happened
59、 next. The special effects of the plane going down in the middle of New York looks very realistic and intense. On top of that, the emotional acting of not only the pilots, but the passengers and the flight attendants brings even more drama to the scene. It is easily the most intense scene in the who
60、le film and, because of cinematography, it makes you feel like you are a part of it, is borderline scary. Sully is a very mature story. And though it lacks adult content, language or blood, it is prepared for a mature audience because of its intense and dramatic scenes. I definitely give Sully 5 out
