3、amerevolutionary beliefs for which our forebears foughtare still at issue around the globe-the belief thatthe rights of man come not from the generosity of thestate, but from the hand of god.we dare not forget today that we are the heirs ofthat first revolution. let the word go forth from thistime a

5、w undoing of those human rights to which this nation has always been committed, and to which we are committed today at homeand around the world.let every nation know, whether it wishes us well or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden,meet any hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe,

12、n states, theunited nations, our last best hope in an age where theinstruments of war have far outpaced the instrumentsof peace, we renew our pledge of support-to preventitfrombecomingmerelyaforumforinvective-tostrengthen its shield of the new and the weak-and toenlarge the area in which its writ ma

13、y run.finally,to those nationswho would make themselvesour adversary,we offernot a pledge but a request:thatboth sides begin anew the quest for peace, before thedark powers of destructionunleashedby scienceengulfallhumanityin planned or accidentalself-destruction.we dare not tempt them withweakness.
