The terracotta warriors and horses hereIt is a treasure of Chinese culture, known as the Eight Wonders of the World1*. It is loved and respected by the people of the world. Students in China shouldAt the same

3、time, through writing activities, students explore and think about valuable tourism resources at home and abroad, and its cultural connotation.:The first text introduces the author*s travel plan for XTan in the form of e-mail. The author uses the present Progressive tense to express future plans and

4、 arrangements, such as the main purpose of travel, key landscapes, other scenic spots and travel safety.The language of this text is relaxed and casual, and it is the communication between young friends, and it is used some impressive expressions as follows:“It is an amazing sight, and I cant wait t

5、o go.”Terracotta Army is almost unbelievable. nnIts amazing to think of that. ,HThe second text is a propaganda page about Terracotta Warriors and Horses, introducing the basic situation of Terracotta Warriors and Horses, in order to provide students with information about the brigade.Analysis of th

6、e studentsFrom classroom observation, the students in Class 318, Grade 1 in Changzhi No.4 Middle School (senior high) are described as follows:Students can actively respond to the teacher in chorus and some active top students like to demonstrate their answers individually in public. Most students c

7、an respond to display questions in mechanical practice after reading and can acquire new words with the help of teacher and their classmates. The important and difficult pointsBased on the requirement of the syllabus:The important point is to guide students to be familiar with all the sentence structures when writing a travel plan.The diff

10、icult point is to develop the students9 writing skills of how to improve a passage. Teaching methodsAs is known to us all, a good teaching method requires that the teacher should help students develop good sense of the English language. For achieving these teaching aims, I will use the following met

11、hods according to the Modem Social Communication Teaching Theories*. 1. The 4Ps Teaching Method (Preparation-Presentation-Practice-Production); during the class, students achieve the learning objectives step by step according to the 4Ps Teaching Method; 2. Task-based Language Teaching; this teaching

12、 method offers students an opportunity to complete the tasks in which they use language to achieve a specific outcome. So students can improve their writing skills by finishing the task given by the teacher. 3. CAI (Computer Assited Instruction) at the same time provides a real situation with its so

13、und and pictures, and it can develop the students creativity in learning English.Teaching AidsPowerPoint, blackboard, multimedia, chalks and so on.Teaching proceduresStep 1: Lead inBegin the class with the lead-in questions: how to write to your friend an impressive travel plan? What kinds of aspect

14、s should be included? It is strongly recommended that the teacher should ask students to discuss the topic freely with their partners and brainstorm some ideas concerning the topic. In this way, students can come up with more ideas and avoid being nervous at the beginning of the class.Step 2: Read t

15、o discover detailsThe teacher is expected to ask students to read Richards email to his friend and the brochure that he found silently and then request students to solve the task below.Study the organization and language features by summarizing the email:Paragraph 1: main purpose for the tripParagra

16、ph 2: other plans for the tripParagraph 3: transportParagraph 4: final thoughtsTip: In this step, what should be highlighted is that the teacher ought to give students proper time to read individually, silently and think independently. There is no need for them to discuss the detailed questions. In

17、this way, students can develop their individual logical thinking ability and promote their skills of finding details.Step 3: Read to find out the words and phrases used to express emotion in the emailAfter finishing the task above, the teacher move on the following task:Underline the words and phras

19、ving much information.Step 4: Use what you have learnt to write a travel plan.Pretend you are Xiao Li and reply to Richards email.Exchange drafts.Presentation: two students write the composition onto blackboard and the otherstudents have a discussion about the two passages and correct the passages b

20、ythemselves派Purpose of my design: (1) to give full play to the role of group cooperation and individual presentation; (2) to let students know the correct expression of the composition. Proper discussion can arouse the students interest in English learning. “Task-based” teaching method is used here

21、to develop the students9 ability of communication and their ability of co-operation will be well trained as well.Assess each othefs work according to the checklist.Is there a clear purpose for the trip?:Does each paragraph have a clear main idea?Does the writer use the present continuous tense for f

22、uture plans?Does the writer use commas, stops, and question marks correctly?Are all the words spelt correctly?Are all the proper nouns capitalized?Revise your draft according to your partners comments.Students revise their passages according to the tips above to make an improvement.Purpose of my des

23、ign: to make students give output. The true mastery of language is to use it. Students can improve their composition using the three ways above. I think if the students can finish this task well, they will benefit a lot in their writing.Step 5:The summary of how to write a travel plan旅游计划是一种常见的应用文写作

25、d create new passages by themselves. Homework is so important and necessary for students to master the knowledge they learned after class. It will check whether the students achieve the learning objectives.VIII. Teaching reflectionThe English “Four-in-One” Teaching Approach is well known to all of u

26、s. And in my class, I chose the 4Ps Teaching Method to help students to achieve the learning objectives.First of all, I asked students questions about their travelling during the vacation to arouse students9 interest and led the class into an active atmosphere. By introducing my travel plan to stude

27、nts, I showed the sentence structures of writing a travel plan naturally and students made a conclusion using a mind map by themselves. That was the preparation part in the 4Ps Teaching Method.Then, I led students to reading the sentence structure and asked them to find out the sentences which refer

28、red to the key structures in the passage and made sentences by themselves as well. The students interacted with me actively and consolidated the sentence structures well. That was the presentation part in the 4Ps Teaching Method.The most important step was to let students write the composition of th

29、eir travel plan. Students did it by themselves. Two students wrote their compositions onto blackboard and the whole class corrected the compositions together.And then, I gave the tips of how to improve a composition. And another two students came to the blackboard to revise the previous compositions. The other students did it by themselves. All the students finished this task well, and they su
