Utopiabelongstoonetypeofsocialtheory,itattemptstopresentseveraldesirablevaluesandpracticestoaso-calledidealcountryorsociety,whichmakesthesevaluesandpracticesthemselves.Generallyspeaking,theauthorofutopiadoesn’tbelievethesecountrieswillcometrue;atleasttheycouldnotturntorealityintheformoftheirperfectultimatesolution.Thereisonepointwhichcoulddistinguishtheidealfromutopia,thatis,noteveryidealcouldberealized.Yet,theutopianevercould.Thisconceptionjustexistsintheconsciousnessandcharacterofhumanbeings.Theutopiahastoremainperfectquality,whiletheidealdoesn’t.Severalofdevelopingcountriesandracesareembracinganideal—modernization,whichdoesn’tequalcivilianparadise.Thepeopleinpursuitofthisidealdon’tneedtoconsideritasanultimatesolution.Theidealisnotalwaysthecriticismandnegativeofreality,yettheutopiaemergesonthecontraryofthereality.Thusitcanbeseen,thereisagreatdifferencebetweenidealandutopia.Nevertheless,theyhaveaverycommonground,thatis,theinstinctofthehopesanddreamsofhumanbeings.Theidealisthegeneralformofinstinctandtheutopiahighest.乌托邦（Utopia）本意为“没有地方”或者“好地方”。延伸为还有理想，不可能完成好事情，其汉字翻译也能够了解为“乌”是没有，“托”是寄托，“邦”是国家，“乌托邦”三个字合起来意思即为“空想国家”。空想社会主义创始人托马斯·莫尔（英国人）在他名著《乌托邦》中虚构了一个航海家航行到一个奇乡异国“乌托邦”旅行见闻。在那里，财产是公有，人民是平等，实施着按需分配标准，大家穿统一工作服，在公共餐厅就餐，官吏由秘密投票产生。他认为，私有制是万恶之源，必须毁灭它。今天乌托邦往往有一个愈加广泛意义。它普通用来描写任何想象、理想社会。有时它也被用来描写今天社会试图将一些理论变成实现尝试。往往乌托邦也被用来表示一些好，不过无法实现（或几乎无法实现）提议、愿望、计划等。
