ElevendaysafterAnneBoleyn'sdeath,Henrymarried
JaneSeymour,butshediedshortlyafterthebirthoftheirson,
PrinceEdward,in1537.Fromhisbirth,Edwardwasundisputedheirapparenttothethrone.Elizabethwasplacedinhishouseholdandcarriedthe
chrisom,orbaptismalcloth,athischristening.Elizabeth'sfirstgovernessorLadyMistress,
MargaretBryan,wrotethatshewas"astowardachildandasgentleofconditionsaseverIknewanyinmylife".
Bythetimeherformaleducationendedin1550,shewasoneofthebesteducatedwomenofhergeneration.Bytheendofherlife,Elizabethwasalsobelievedtospeak
