TheSurgingWavePavilionintheshapeofasquarestandsatthetopofthemountainandhasaparallelcoupletfromtheSongpoetsonthestonepillarstoheightenartisticconception.Mostofthegardenbuildings,simpleandplain,wererebuiltintheQingDynasty,carefullyarrangedaroundthemountainsandconnectedbyalongroofedwalkway.TheLionForrestGarden

狮子林

OneofthefourgreatgardensofSuzhouandisadmiredfortheincrediblecollectionofpitted,erodedrocksthatweregreatlyappreciatedbyclassicalChinesescholars.ItwasoriginallypartofaBuddhistmonastery.ThegardensareareminderoftheBuddhiststoryofthelions.Thelayoutofthegardenfollowsmanytwistsandturns.Itiseasytogetquitelostinthesewindingpaths狮子林为苏州四大名园之一，至今已有650多年的历史。位于苏州市市城东北园林路。元至正二年（公元1342年）僧天如禅师为纪念其师中峰禅师建菩提正宗寺，元末名僧天如禅师维则的弟子“相率出资，买地结屋，以居其师。”因园内“林有竹万固，竹下多怪石，状如狻猊（狮子）者”；又因中峰禅师曾倡道天目山狮子岩，取佛书“狮子吼”之意，易名为狮子林。明洪武六年（公元1373年），73岁的大书画家倪瓒（号云林）途经苏州，曾参与造园，并题诗作画（绘有《狮子林图》），使狮子林名声大振，成为佛家讲经说法和文人赋诗作画之胜地。

TheHumbleAdministrator'sGarden拙政园Covering51,950sq.m,theHumbleAdministrator'sGardenisthelargestofallclassicalgardensinSuzhou.TheHumbleAdministrator'sGarden,oneofChina'sfourmostfamousgardens,builtin1509duringtheMingDynastyItisdividedintothreeparts;theeastern,middlethewesternparts.Thehouseliesinthesouthofthegarden.ItislistedasaWorldCulturalHeritagesiteandhasalsobeendesignatedasoneoftheCulturalRelicsofNationalImportanceundertheProtectionoftheStateaswellasaSpecialTouristAttractionofChina.ThegardenconsistsofEastern,CentralandWesternsectionsaswellassomeresidencesoftheformerownersTheHumbleAdministrator’sGarden(ZhuozhengYuan)isconsideredthegreatestofallsouthernChinesegardens.DuringthereignofEmperorZhengde(1506-1521),thesitewasoccupiedbyDahongTemple.Atthattime,acensornamedWangXianchenappropriatedthetempleandconverteditintoaprivatevilla,buttheWangfamilycouldnotmaintainthegardenandsolditafewyearslater.Inthecomingcenturiesthegardenrepeatedlychangedhandsandwasreconstructedmanytimes,sothegardenweseetodayisfarremovedfromtheoneenjoyedbyWangXianchen.TheLingeringGarden

留园TheLingeringGarden,oneofthefourmostfamousgardensinChina,occupiesanareaof23,310squaremeters.Likeotherfamousgardens,theLingeringGardenseekstocreatestunningnaturallandscapeswithinlimitedspaceAccordingtothestyleofthebuildings,thegardencangenerallybedividedintofourparts:thecentral,eastern,westernandnorthernparts.Ofthefourparts,thecentralpartistheessenceofthewholecomplex.ThispartwastheoriginalLingeringGardenwhiletheotherthreewereaddedduringtheQingDynastyTigerhill

Withahistoryofmorethan2,500years,theHuqiuhasbeenknownasNo.1SightofSuzhou.Itisamustfortourists.ThegreatSongliterarymanSuDongposaid,"ItwouldbeapityifyouhadbeentoSuzhoubutdidn'tgettovisittheHuqiu."AsashowcaseofSuzhouandoneofthefirsttenexemplarycivilizedtouristattractionsofChina,itreceivesover1,500,000Chineseandforeigntouristseveryyear,andhastakenovertheleadinthetourismindustryofSuzhoufortenyearsrunning.HanshanTempleHanshanTemple

islocatedinthetownofFengqiao(MapleBridge)inthewestoutskirtsofSuzhou,onlyonekilometerwestoftheLingeringGarden.DuringtheTangDynasty(618-907),afamousmonknamedHanshanstayedinthetemple,whichwaslaterrenamedbyhisname.Thetemplewasonceoneofthe10mostfamoustemplesinChina.ZhangJi,afamousTang-dynastypoet,wrotethepoem"ANightMooringbyMapleBridge,"which,consequently,madethetempleevenmorepopularnationwide.
