So,therewewere,andstillare,inourlittlewestcoasttown.Weloveourlittlecomer

ofparadisebutwehavepaidaprice.Wehavenotbeenthereforsomeimportanteventssuchas

thebirthsoftwoofourgrandchildren.Wehavemissedwatchingeachofthemgrowup;we

havemissedthenormal,noisyhouseholdsthathaveyoungpeopleinthem.Ourhome,while

verycomfortable,isalsoveryquiet.

Everyfallwetraveltoseethechildren.Weusuallyfly,firsttoCaliforniatoseeourson

Scottandspendaweekormorewithhimtryingtocatchuponeverythingwe'vemissed.

Then,usuallyinNovember,wemaketheevenlongertripeastacrossCanadatoseeTravis

andourgrandchildren,whoarenowteenagers,actuallyintotheirtwenties.Theyseldomcome

tovisitus.Thedistancesarejusttoogreatanditiscostly.

Fortunately,bothourboysaredoingwellandourgrandchildrenaregrowingupstraight
