verysurprised.BecauseDisneyhadfilminthecompetition,Dreamworkhada

filmandallofthesestudioshadfilmsinthecompetition,butaJapanesefilm

won.Sothat'sanimportantmessagetotheUSanimationbusinessthat

somethingtheyaredoingisnotright.

visitedChina,toabout2yearsago,mostoftheanimationsbeingdonein

Chinawereforthewest.SoIwasworriedaboutChineseanimationbecauseI

didn'tseeanyoriginalanimationbeingdone.Butinthelast2years,therewas

alotgoingoninChineseanimation.Therewasabiginterestinopening

Chineseanimationtowesternappeal,notlosingthespecialofChineseartin

thing.Theyshouldlearnhowtodrawindifferentways.Whenyouaresittingon

abusinthetrafficinBeijing,lookatthepeoplewalkingandthinkaboutwhat's

thedifferencebetweenonepersonandthepersonnexttohim.Andthen

sketch4them.Youjusthavetoexpandyourvisionofworldandfillitintoyour
