AcopyofWordCards(Sets1–8)

Someadhesivetape/Blu-Tackforstickingthewordcardsontheboard

Fourflyswatters

Steps:

Cutoutthewordcards.Becarefulnottomixupeachset.

DividetheboardintothreecolumnsandstickthewordcardsfromSet1ontheboard.Stick‘wash’,‘washs’and‘washes’inthemiddlecolumnand‘thedishes.’inthethirdcolumn.Ifyouhaveconcernsaboutexposingpupilstoincorrectforms,youcanleaveout‘washs’.Leavethefirstcolumnemptyatthisstage.

Dividetheclassintofourgroups.Inviteapupilfromeachgrouptothefrontandhandthemeachaflyswatter.Explaintotheclassthatthesefourpupilsarenowgoingtoracetoswatthecorrectwordinthemiddlecolumn.

Youcount‘One,two,three!’andstick‘Billy’inthefirstcolumn.Thepupilshavetoswatthecorrectword,i.e.‘washes’,inthemiddlecolumn.Thefastestonehastoreadthecompletesentenceoutloudbeforewinningapointforhis/hergroup.

Continuethegamewiththeremainingsetsofwordcards.Thegroupwiththemostpointsattheendofthegamewins.

Youcanusetheblankwordcardsprovidedifyouwishtoextendthegame.
