Startupandshutdowncanbeperformedautomaticallyforallcomponentsassociatedwiththesealsteamsystem.Thisensuresloss-stressandcoordinatedoperationofcomponents.Thetaskofthesubgroupcontrol(SGC)istoassuresupplyofsealsteamatappropriatetemperatureandpressuretotheshaftsealsunderalloperatingconditions.Asoperationoftheshaftsealsteamsystemiscloselyconnectedtooperationofthecondenserairremovalsystem(thesystemshallonlybeoperatedwiththecondenserevacuated),theshaftsealsteamsupplysubgroupcontrolisstartedbythecondenserairremovalsystem.AutomaticcontrolisconfiguredsuchastoallowmanualcontroloftherelevantcomponentswhenthisSGCisdeactivated.OperatingStep Speed-dependentvacuumbreakingVacuumbreakersStep ShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE8ofMonitoringStep•setsealsteampressurecontrollerto"ClosedLoopControl"modeStep•sealsteampressurecontrollerisin"ClosedLoopControl"mode.OvershootWait-MonitoringStepStep•(Remark:Step5islaststepofstartupOvershootWait-Monitoring-SealsteampressurecontrollerwithpneumaticactuatorsandopeninginterlockPerformanceoftheturbinesealsisatitsoptimumwhensealsteamwhichisheldataconstantpressurelevelisadmittedtothese.Thispressuresetpointisselectedsuchastoensurethatsteamcannotescapeintotheatmosphere.Sealsteamsupplytotheshaftsealsisimplementedviaasealsteamheader.Undercertainoperatingconditions,itisnecessarytoadmitadditionalsteamtothesealsteamheaderusingthesealsteamsupplyvalvetomaintainpressure.Underotherconditionsexcesssteamhastobedumpedfromthesealsteamheader.ShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE9ofSealsteamqualityismonitoredcontinuouslyforfulfillmentofsetpressureandtemperatureconditions.ThesealsteamvalvecanbelockedintheCLOSEDstatuswherenecessarytoruleoutadmissionofsteamwithinadequatequalitytotheturbine.Thetaskofthesealsteampressurecontrolsystemistopreventescapeofsteamtotheatmosphereunderalloperatingconditions,andlikewisetopreventtheingressofairintotheturbinesandtherebyintothecondenser.Forthis,asealsteamheaderisprovidedtowhichallshaftsealsarelinked.Apressurecontrollermodulatesthesealsteamsupplyandleak-offvalvesappropriatelytoholdpressureinthesealsteamheaderandtherebytheshaftsealsatthesetpoint.Thesealsteamsupplyvalveservestoadmitadditionalsteamtothesealsteamheader.Thesealsteamleak-offvalveservesfordumpingofexcesssteamfromthesealsteamheader(asappropriatefortheoperatingRemarksconcerningfunctionActualCET2001MP;CET2002MP;Ifbothpressuremeasurementsarefault-free,theactualvalueforthepressurecontrolleriscalculatedasarithmeticmeanvalue.CET2001MY;Ifonepressuremeasurementisfaultytheactualvalueforthepressurecontrolleristakenfromtheremainingfault-freemeasurement.IfbothmeasurementsarefaultythepressurecontrollerisforcedtoIfthedifferencebetweenbothmeasurementsexceedsanadjustablelimit,awarningiscreated(seeattachment4:CommentsonannunciationPressureAprogressivecharacteristicisimplementedforthepressurecontroller.Thisaltersgainasafunctionofcontroldeviation(thedifferencebetweensetpointandactualvalue).TheShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE10ofadvantageofthisapproachisthatpressurecontrollergainisadaptedtothecontrolloopinthecaseofsmall-sizecontroldeviation.Bycontrast,thisensureslargepressurecontrollergainonlarge-sizecontroldeviationsuchasiseffectiveafterloadrejectionorturbinetrip,resultinginthecontrollertakingactionfaster.Thepressurecontrollercharacteristicisapproximatedwiththeaidofapolynomial,y=ax2-signx+bxPreliminarysetting: Theresultoftheabovefunction,signxis-1forx<0and+1forAnadjustableoverlaprangeofbetween3and8%isimplemented(YFR=CET5051EP;defaultsetting=5)togivebettercontrolbehaviorforthechangeoverbetweensealsteamsupplyandleak-offvalveoperationandviceversa.andleak-offvalves,thecontrolleroutputsignalormanualoutputsignalarereducedtohalfgainwhenoperatinginthisregion.TransferFunction:PIactionwithadjustablecontroller1+F(p)=KPPreliminaryProportionalgain N=4sSignalrangeforoutputsignal:-105to0%pressurecontrolleroutput=105to0%positioningsignalforsealsteamleak-offvalve0to105%pressurecontrolleroutput=0to105%positioningsignalforsealsteamsupplyvalve(OverlapnottakenintoUpperlimit(YOG)2%ofthepressurecontroller(ECS:CET1002NG;KKS:Intheeventoftoolowortoohighauxiliarysteamtemperatureortoohighcondenserpressureortoolowturbinespeedortoolowpressureupstreamsealsteamsupplycontrolvalve,openingofthisvalveisblockedbytheinterlock(seesection3.2.4.2.3)bysettingtheupperlimitofthecontrolleroutputtothevalue"2".ShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE11ofUpperlimit(YOG)30%ofthepressureImpingementofhotsteamonthecoldsealsteamheaderonsuddenopeningofthesealsteamsupplyvalvecouldoccurafteranextendedoutage,forexample.Sucheventsleadtohighthermalstressesonthepipingsystemcausedbytheassociatedsuddensurfacecondensation.Tominimizesucheffects,sealsteamsupplyvalveliftislimitedto30%asafunctionoftemperatureCET2003MT1/MAW20CT003A(<115°C)inthesealsteamheader.ChangeovertoManualmode(ESC:CET2001MY;KKS:Toenhanceavailability,provisionismadeformanualoperationofthiscontrolsystem.AutomatictransfertotheMANUALmodetakesplaceintheeventoffaultsintheelectricalsectionofthesealsteampressuremeasurementsystem.Toensurebumplessautomatictransfer,thepositioningsignalnotactiveatanytime(controlleroutputsignalormanualoutputsignal)iscontinuouslytrackedtothevariableinaction.LiftsetpointforsealsteamsupplycontrolECS:Signalformationforthepositioningsignalforthesealsteamsupplyvalveisimplementedviaasignallimiter.105%>positioningsignal>-5%TherangeoverrideensuresreliableopeningandclosingoftheassociatedAcurrentsignal(4to20mA)isrequiredtoactuatetheoperatingcoiloftheactuator.Conversionofthedigitalsignalisimplementedsuchastogivethefollowingsignalrange:0to100%positionsignalforsealsteamsupplyvalve=4to20Responseoftheassociatedopeninginterlock(ECS:CET1002NG;KKS:MAW10EG002;seesection3.2.4.2.3)causesautomaticsettingofthepositioningsignalto-5%.Thisreliablyblocksanyopeningofthesealsteamsupplyvalve.3.2.1.2LiftsetpointforsealsteamdischargecontrolECS:Signalformationforthepositioningsignalforthesealsteamdischargecontrolvalveisimplementedviaasignallimiter.105%>positioningsignal>-5%TheaboveoverrangeensuresreliableopeningandclosingoftheassociatedShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE12ofAcurrentsignal(4to20mA)isrequiredtoactuatetheoperatingcoiloftheactuator.Conversionofthedigitalsignalisimplementedsuchastogivethefollowingsignalrange:0to100%positionsignalforsealsteamleak-offvalve=4to20Tosettheoverlapaconstantvalueisaddedtothepositioningsignaloutputtothesealsteamleak-offvalve(preliminarysetting:5%).Thisgivestherequiredoverlapbetweensealsteamsupplyandleak-offvalve.Auxiliarysteamcondition(sealsteamPressureupstreamcontrolvalvesealsteamECS:SVA3011MP/SVA3012MP/SVA3011Ifbothpressuremeasurementsarefault-free,anarithmeticmeanvalueiscalculatedforindicationonOMdisplay.AlimitvalueXH02/XH52(seeattachment3"Settingparameters")iscreatedandusedfortheopeninginterlockofthesealsteamsupplycontrolvalveIfthedifferencebetweenbothmeasurementsexceedsanadjustablelimit,awarningisTemperatureupstreamcontrolvalvesealsteamECS:Ifbothtemperaturemeasurementsarefault-free,anarithmeticmeanvalueiscalculatedforindicationonOMdisplay.TwolimitvaluesXH03andXH54(seeattachment3"Settingparameters")arecreatedandusedfortheopeninginterlockofthesealsteamsupplycontrolvalveIfthedifferencebetweenbothmeasurementsexceedsanadjustablelimit,awarningisSaturatedsteamconditionupstreamsealsteamcontrolECS:ShanghaiElectricPowerShanghaiElectricPowerSYSTEM(CET)SheetPAGE13ofTheauxiliarysteamischeckedifsuperheatingofsteamupstreamsealsteamsupplycontrolvalveis>5Kelvin.Awarningiscreatediflowauxiliarysteamsuperheating(<5Kelvin)isSubloopcontrolanddrivecontrolglandsteamexhausters(2xThetaskoftheglandsteamexhaustersistoproduceaslightvacuumintheglandsteamcondenserandtoremovetheairthatiscarriedoverintotheglandsteamcondenserwiththeleak-offsteamfromtheshaftglands.Togivehighavailability,twoglandsteamexhaustersareprovidedwithonlyoneinoperationatanytime.Intheeventofademand,automaticchangeovertothestandbyexhausterisToprotecttheglandsteamexhauster,waterlevelintheglandsteamcondenserismonitoredbymeansofaleveldetectorconnectedtol&C-system.Ifthesetmaximumlimitisviolated,anyoperatingglandsteamexhausterisstoppedautomatically.RemarksconcerningfunctionChangeoverlogicforexhausterECS:The"SLC"functionblockservestoactivate/deactivatetheautomaticchangeoverlogicoftheexhausterfans.The"DCMSWITCH"functionblockservestostartthepreselectedexhausterfanduringnormalstartuportostartthestandbyexhausterfanincaseofafailureoftherunningexhausterfan.The"SLC"functionblockissetto"ON"respectivelyto"OFF"bythesuperordinatedsubgroupcontrol"SGCsealsteamsupply".ItcanbeswitchedOFForONbytheoperatoratanytimeasIfbothexhausterfansarefault-freeandreadyforoperation,automaticchangeoverisperformedbychangingmanuallythepreselectionatthe"DCMSWITCH"functionblock.Thestandbyfanisstartedand10seclaterthenotselectedfanisstopped.ShanghaiElectricPower
